No Time Wasted at Sacramento Sustainability Forum's August 19 One-Year Anniversary Event at SMUD Auditorium

Sacramento Sustainability Forum’s one-year anniversary meeting was held at SMUD Auditorium on August 19. In advance of being seated in the auditorium, those in attendance shared cake, libations, networking and song to celebrate the occasion. This marked the fourth time an SSF event was held at SMUD Auditorium. Sacramento Sustainability Forum is a monthly venue for connecting businesses, nonprofits, government and interested citizens in the Sacramento region in order to promote sustainability, share insights and resources, and support movement toward a more sustainable future. Green Expo hosts monthly Sac Sustainability Forum

The Sacramento Green Expo 2010 at Cal Expo April 24 was Sacramento’s first sustainable lifestyle expo.   There were almost 80 exhibitors whose business types included heating and cooling, building design, gardening, yoga, pet foods, state agencies, SMUD, restaurants, healthcare, conservation organizations, real estate, automotive, retail, services, home improvement and more.   One exhibitor was Sacramento Sustainability Forum. HIGHLIGHTS FROM TEDX SACRAMENTO April 16 2010 at Hinde Auditorium, 6000 J Street Sacramento, CA 95819.

April 16 marked the arrival of TEDx in Sacramento, bringing a “TED-like experience” to our area. What is TED? TED stands for “Technology, Education, Design.” It is a small nonprofit organization devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” Started in 1984, its purpose has spread to include an annual U.S. conference in Long Beach as well as a TEDGlobal conference in the United Kingdom, a TEDTalks online video site, an annual TED Prize, a nationwide local program called TEDx and more. NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SOCIAL MEDIA SOCIETY LAUNCH PARTY 3-23-2010 AT MIX DOWNTOWN IN SACRAMENTO

The Northern California Social Media Society is a new organization that aims to provide its members “access to a broad ecosystem of support to help you grow your business, enhance your leadership, and expand your impact as a socially responsible business leader.” Its launch party was held last Tuesday at Mix Downtown’s rooftop location at 16th and L streets. Sacramento Sustainability Forum Media Panel took place at the Green California Summit March 17.

Sustainable development was defined as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” The panel consisted of Joe Barr, News Director of Capital Public Radio, Michael Sanford, VP of Content Creation at KVIE Public Television, Ron Trujillo, Editor of The Sacramento Business Journal, Ben Ilfeld, Co-founder and Operations Manager of The Sacramento Press, Mary Lynne Vellinga, Business Editor of The Sacramento Bee and Jeff von Kaenel, CEO of The Sacramento News & Review The panel discussed their coverage of green issues.
