i agree, leave the flat screens at home... please.
This place is hell and comes with the usual new (sacramento) restaurants stupidities, e.g. flat screens to distract the bad food, a motif that doesn't make sense, a "lounge" on the second floor, orange (fake tan) clientele and servers etc etc. This list goes on and on. (Not that there is anything fundamentally wrong with these) What a missed opportunity, i almost want to shame the owners for, being, well, I don't know... boring, unimaginative. I don't understand why these new places don't reflect the neighborhood they are built in. ( bespoke, quaint, relaxed, charming, historic, innovative, creative, tolerant (yes I was called a fag by a patron) Why recreate the drab suburbs in midtown, as opposed to brining midtown to midtown? I get it, people descend upon the center of the cities for entertainment, its a natural phenomenon. So why not then present them with something new. Agreed, let this one finds its way home to a strip mall in Roseville.
Why would you need to provide the ever so present "Sacramento restaurant flat screen" in a room which will have panoramic views of the city and nearby Sierra Nevada mountains? Or a room which overlooks looks such a dramatic and unique sight as nearly a century old oasis in the basement of such a sacramento landmark? We've had a nice 8 year run with the flat screen in the dining room. I think it’s now time for restaurant & bar owners/chefs to stop distracting us, and start impressing us with their food, ambience and service. I digress.....
yea! 15 Flat screen TVs, sounds new and interesting. Will really bring some character to the neighborhood.
Then, after more bike parking ( did that "bike themed" restuarant ever provide parking?? ) is large well lighted signs at every entrance to the grid that say's " welcome to midtown, watch out for bikes" etc etc etc or something like that. A friendly reminder, to remind people that J street is not Watt Avenue, and not everyone in transport is in a car.
not as bland as what is proposed.
Shame on you for your self serving interests, in your attempt to keep one of Sacramento's major attractions accessible to those only with a car. Arco Arena belongs to Sacramento, and should be accessible to all of Sacramento. It needs to be located in the center, near ALL forms of transport- bus, heavy rail, light rail, taxi, bike, by foot and by your car.
Please please forgo the flat screen tv (which has unfortunately become synonymous with Sacramento dining) let the food, and the environment your food creates prevail! no need to have silent images of fox news or espn, i assume your food will be entertainment enough! thanks
Regardless of how I feel about the mid 90's Richard Meier-esque nature of the building, i just wish the Curators would match the ambition of the building with decent programming. After $100,000,000 Sacramento is still underserved? That doesn’t make any sense. I see their future exhibition schedule, it seems as inspiring as the exhibitions in the old building. I thought they were bringing something new? They do have an incredible works on paper collection , which I hope the collection is curated well. I remember taking a Dutch Renaissance art course during university in Amsterdam, almost every other slide was “courtesy of the Crocker”, felt pretty proud I have to say.
thumbs down to surface parking lots! Id rather have a Gap or a Pasta Pompodoro before something is bulldozed to provide surface parking. (28th and J ) besides, tex mex looks pretty corporate anyways.........
Well i guess Jim, you and La Raza Galeria Posada have something in common.
Im actually not a snob, just demanding and incredibly saddened at their lack of inspiration. That’s all. Sacramento is underserved, and I dont think the Crocker will ever try to change this. :(
We've been waiting 125 years, whats a few more :)
This is a joke, right? An April fools day prank, right? The most important museum in Sacramento is hosting a cake decorating demonstration???? COME ON CROCKER step it up! challenge and inspire me- bring some sophistication to Sacramento......
Hi, whatever happened to blocking off capitol avenue on Sunday’s ?? i hope its still in the works for those of various wheel persuasions (excluding car tires) to reclaim the streets.
10 tv's? this sounds like hell.
Im so happy i can live in Elk Grove without the commute!!!! well done!
Dear Paul, Just hide the parking, dont put any ugly silver horses and create some sidewalk life and everyone will be happy. Its not rocket science. xoxo
Conversation about: Drewski's combines food truck fare, sports bar
Argh..... How many sports bars can midtown/downtown have????? Be innovative, its not a bad thing.
