I attend this as well in Oak Park and was thrilled to see how many people showed up, some of which I've never met before (and I'm a pretty social person so this was a nice surprise). I'm looking forward to the next Community Conversation and hope we can build off the initial discussion. Thanks to Sac Press for the positive news coverage in Oak Park!

Thanks for the suggestion, sfmundi. We'll have an article up hopefully next week with more information on this specific event and upcoming dates for it. We have a small staff and try to cover and preview as much as we can. It's helpful to hear your input on what you'd like previews of ahead of time. We will work to give our readers more of a heads up for these type of community events. If you have other suggestions, please e-mail them to journalism@sacramentopress.com

This is the first I have heard of these conversations and I would have loved to have attended. Is there a way that Sac Press can bring attention to these types of community events beforehand? It's wonderful that they get covered, but it always seems to be after the fact. Many thanks.

Yes, the event at the park was a much lighter affair, and did include traditional mexican food......illegal food vendors. Face it Rojas.....the event fell apart this year. Maybe people are not as interested in the hijacking of Chavez day to support socialism, communism, legalizing illegal aliens that sneak in and drive down farmworker wages, increasing immigration levels that do the same, etc as you would like to have us all believe.

The Railroad Museum has featured a lot of exhibits that aren't necessarily train exhibits--they have played host to a lot of traveling exhibits with subjects like labor history or American industry. Considering the role that railroads in general, and Sacramento in particular, played in those fields, it's a natural venue, and the CSRM has a large amount of space that can be dedicated to touring museum programs.
