Yesterday was the first time I took my five year old son Elijah fishing. After practicing casting for an hour he was ready to go. Even though he did not catch a fish it was time well spent. We look forward to going out again. Activities that don't require much money is always a bonus.

Interesting -the history of gambling in the old west. However, it's a bit silly to say " gamblers tired of driving to Las Vegas to get their gaming fix" ..hello.. Thunder Valley, Cache Creek, Jackson Ranchero and so on. At least we're not proping up Nevada's economy quite as much anymore.. now Sacramento County residents are only giving their money to Placer County.

I agree with Shawn, it is so refreshing to see more activities offered to the public that are free, family-organized, and educational. I have such fond memories fishing with my grandfather and father as a kid. I hope more people jump on this program and take advantage of it!

It’s good to see that fishing is being brought to more people. Even if it is in an urban area fisherman should always take precautions to make sure that their experience isn’t sullied by an accident. Take a look at this ad: http://bit.ly/8WRtd. After you watch the video, you can follow the link for a chance to win a 16ft Tracker Pro fishing boat or a vacation on a houseboat. Be safe while having fun!
