Conversation about: Crash tax could be repealed

tax rates on businesses are the lowest they've been since the '20s. Boeing, B of A, ExxonMobil and other giants have paid no federal income taxes in the last few years. Oil is the most profitable industry in this country yet you pay more in fed income taxes than the corps. Prosecute? I don't know; money talks. Tax corruption is ruining the political debate in this country. I know the info from media. Common sense works, too. Do you actually believe that working people have the capability to effect your life more than banks, insurance companies and health providers? Tax cuts don't create jobs. Otherwise the Bush tax cuts of 2001 should have us rolling in employment. We're not. BTW what part of my comment is egregious? You probably oppose the crash tax but don't agree that there is some other reason working people are scrambling for crumbs while the richest Americans are, well, rich.

...crash tax is a silly idea...get the business and corporate tax dodgers and tax cheats to pay up then, we can dispense with these schemes to raise funding on the backs of honest, hard working Americans...

Conversation about: Tea Anyone? First Person – Sacramento Tea Party Rally on 9/12

The election of Barack Obama was a signature point in American history. It validated "American Exceptionalism" and reinforced the American Dream. And some of my fellow citizens won't have it. PW, it's audacity.

"Change as in changing things back to the way they feel they used to be" is the crux of it--they are longing for a past that never was, an idealized Ward and June Cleaver world they remember from television, not reality. All this patriotic fervor is an insult and disgrace to our nation's real principles, and a mockery of its real history. Thanks, Bill...

I appreciate your comment, but am not as optimistic as you. I have attended only one tea party and noticed how homogeneous and vitriolic it was. Yes, you are completely right in that these are probably first time activists. Perhaps they liked things as they were. But when Barack Hussein Obama took the oath of office, these "patriots" started looking for "socialists and communists" under every bed and began using coded references to our having a president who does not look like them.

I was unaware that beer-bellied guys in shiny trucks and their wives were the real victims in today's USA. I would like to see more substance from these "patriots" than they display now. Call me naive, but I don't think these people are the guardians of democracy.

Isn't there a connection between all of these concerns? Are these concepts mutually exclusive? Sacramento Local Conservation Corps trains "at-risk" youth in green building or rebuilding. There are other NGOs doing similar projects.

It's a good idea. Naysayers could be right. Capitalists are allowed to invest money, make money and lose money. Those who get jobs during the UFL's stay are fortunate. Win, win all around.

Conversation about: City seeks feedback about reintroducing vehicles to K Street

It's a knee jerk reaction of most store owners to want vehicular traffic going by. Unknown if it generates sales, but it does generate congestion and diminishes pedestrian safety among other factors.

Great post. Nice to read creative ideas for promotions. Make up of Cats' division nurtures rivalries and good crowds. Fresno, Reno, Las Vegas...cool. Recalls days of Solons, Seals and Oaks. BTW it was Vancouver, BC.
