The Sacramento Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) today released its CleanStart Progress Report revealing that Sacramento region clean tech revenues in 2012 grew by 29 percent to over $2.1 billion, while employment grew by 31 percent to more than 3,200. Both marks are all-time highs for the Sacramento region’s clean tech sector.  Revenue in 2011 was $1.5 billion and employment was 2,200.  The total number of area clean tech companies now totals 99 as indicated in an updated SARTA interactive online map that enables users to link to Sacramento’s tech companies’ websites, identify locations and organize them by industry. An economic impact study conducted by the Capital SouthEast Connector Joint Powers Authority estimates that construction of the new roadway between Elk Grove and El Dorado Hills will create more than 5,400 new full-time jobs and $310 million in new labor income. CleanWorld today officially opened the nation’s largest commercial-scale, high solid anaerobic digestion (AD) system at the South Area Transfer Station property in South Sacramento. The Sacramento Area Technology Alliance (SARTA) and UC Davis today were notified by the federal Economic Development Administration (EDA) that they are receiving a $1 million i6 Challenge Grant to create an AgTech Innovation Center that will help farmers and ranchers grow their businesses. SARTA and UC Davis received one of only six grants awarded nationally. It is the only grant awarded in California.
