As an Old Sacramento business owner, I think the City needs to remember what a struggle it is to get local / regional residents to come to Old Sac. One of the lingering perceptions (misconceptions?) about Old Sac is that parking is expensive or limited; people either don't know about the garages or think they are too pricey. IF this ultimately limits or eliminates the parking validation program, I think it will be extremely detrimental to businesses in Old Sac. The situation would, frankly, add credibility to the complaint about parking down here. In Old Sac we have fought hard to overcome some of the "old" perceptions about the district ("There is no parking", "It's hard to get to," "There is nothing but T-shirt shops.") - a hit to the validation program would only serve to put us back a couple steps. I will be curious to see how this works out.
