Light rail construction this weekend

Construction on the light rail’s Gold Line will close numerous stations and streets over the weekend as it will be undergoing track renovations from 6 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday. The Gold Line construction will close the Eighth and K streets, Seventh and I streets, County Center and the Sacramento Valley Stations as well as several streets. Regional Transit spokeswoman Alane Masui said that from 6 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, eastbound H Street between Sixth and Ninth streets, southbound Seventh Street between F and I streets, and northbound Eighth Street between I and G streets will be closed. Lounge on 20: Cosmetic and Culinary Changes

Lounge on 20, going on 3 years old, is making a few big changes to its menu and its interior, including two new chefs, an indoor fireplace and the addition of a banquet-style dining room. Owner Ali Mackani said the official reopening is scheduled for May 1. “Many of our customers kept asking for a dining room, and we had the room, so we utilized it,” Mackani said. The largest overhaul of the renovation is the dining room, which will feature several banquet-style tables and chandelier lighting. Anytime you bring a bunch of people together and drinking is involved, things are going to get out of control almost all the time. It's obvious to say yeah, maybe the hundreds (or thousands) of people that come to Second Saturday might be reasons for increased violence. Drinking + crowds = always equals some problems (gang related or not). and when police say the case is "wide open," and "resources are being used," it's usually B/S for hey, where out of information, leads, etc. Vagueness is never a positive sign in police work. Also, as usual, it seems to take something terrible to create strong involvement among law enforcement (more people should mean more police presence, not always the case)...
