Now we can support our local farmers on Saturday and Sunday!! In addition, maybe this market will inspire many to venture to the historic neighborhood of Oak Park and support its efforts to thrive. It sounds like this market is an invitation for all Sacramentans to join. Thanks to the "do gooders" that took this on and are making it happen.

Agreed Bill. I don't think there can ever be too many farmer's markets! Especially when we live in an age of an obesity crisis; fresh fruits and veggies brought to every neighborhood (and especially where people can and will walk to get there) is never a bad thing. Plus, it could bring in more people to the neighborhood which may just pick up some extra customers for the surrounding businesses in Oak Park and help with some revitalization. I bet the coffee shop across the street is already seeing a huge influx in business on those mornings. I live pretty much right between the one at 8th and W and the new one in Oak Park and personally, I really love that fact that one is on Saturday and one is on Sunday. I often go to church on Sunday morning so I can rarely make the one under the freeway so the new Oak Park location gives people more options as well.

The market under the freeway is great. But, for many in Oak Park it would be difficult to get there and back. It is more environmentally sound to bring the farmers to neighborhoods where they are walking distance for the residents to come buy fresh perishables for the week. European and other cities around the world learned this long ago.

Oak Park doesn't have a farmer's market?? It has the same one that Land Park, Curtis Park, Midtown, Southside use....the one that is Year round under neath the freeway.

When do-gooders try and so something they think a neighborhood needs...it is artificial and will fail.
