Way to go Bill! I wish more stationary restaurants would do mobile versions of their restaurants than bitch about food trucks. The restaurant owner(s) in town who fight the food trucks are missing a great marketing opportunity. Instead, they craft a bunch of impossible guidelines that the food trucks have to operate within--it's all so stupid and just makes our town look like a backwater. The city council should be ashamed about kissing up to those people.

One of my favorite evenings was to go have the daily slice and a beer at Luigi's and then go to Newsbeat. I'd usually leave with a couple of magazines like Atomic Ranch, Mojo, Ugly Things, Bimmer and Net (a web design) magazine, and if I was feeling bad some salty Dutch licorice. I'm a cheap date! I'm going to miss it... where am I going to get any of that stuff now? And I ain't going to Davis!

It's too bad they had to butcher the original building and do the cliché trendy facade. I give the mermaids gimmick 4 months--six month tops before they're history. I might try the the pizza place some night before a movie at the Crest, but probably won't be making a special trip. Masullo is hard to beat for quality and price--I've seen a semi truck before...

Does anyone know specifically which restaurants, if any, lobbied against this? i've heard rumors, but i'd like to know which ones. Is it on public record at City Hall?
