Galena Street East will be celebrating 40 years of bringing “Joy to the World” at this year’s annual performance of “Holiday Tapestry.” Comprised of young adults from throughout the Sacramento metro area, Galena Street East is preparing to light up the stage with songs and dances that celebrate the spirit of the holidays here in the United States and all over the world. Variety is what Galena Street East is known for. The exciting repertoire for this year’s show, entitled, “A Season of Miracles,” includes partner dances with advanced lifts, American Clogging, international folk dances from around the world, holiday-themed musical numbers, vocal solos and even a dance number in the style
Performers from Sacramento’s young performing ambassadors, Galena Street East, recently returned from a triumphant tour to Oahu, Hawaii. Galena was selected to represent the state of California in the 2011 "Festival of States" concert series. This summer, the Music Festival was set to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. For Galena Street East, this was their 39th good-will ambassador tour. They performed at various venues presenting "The Spirit of America." Galena Street East, California’s young performing ambassadors from Sacramento, will be holding auditions for the Children’s Chorus, Allegro, and East Street Gang groups on Saturday, June 4, 2011. All auditions will be held at the Sacramento Performing Arts Company Studio located at 2598 Del Monte Street in West Sacramento. These groups are the training ground to prepare young performers for Galena Street East, the performing ensemble comprised of young Sacramento ambassadors who perform locally and abroad each year. On Friday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m., the young performers of Galena Street East will put on the 39th performance of “Holiday Tapestry” in Sacramento. The spirit of patriotism is alive and well in the hearts and minds of nineteen young adults from the Sacramento area. Recently returning from a summer tour in Washington, D.C., these talented teens sang, danced and performed as members of Galena Street East, a performing arts ensemble dedicated to training Sacramento’s rising generation in the various styles of music and dance.
