Good point markitect .... about 80% of the work environment culture is tied to a manager's "stuff". The authors of the book also emphasize creating an atmosphere of safety in order for crucial conversations to occur. This can be created by managers both verbally (inviting tone of voice, not yelling, etc.) and non-verbally (open body language, affirming nods, no leers, etc.). Also, organizations that align their performance management and reward system with innovation and risk taking are well suited to have crucial conversations.

Great questions Colleen .... Most of the guests that come on my show are affiliated with the Sacramento Organization Development Network, Sac Chapter of the American Society of Training & Development, Linkedin, and others as a result of watching the show on Channel 17. Some I know through my work as the Organization Development Manager with the City of Sacramento or as a teacher at various graduate schools. Guests are lined up through the summer - there's alot of expertise in Sacramento and they are all VERY eager to volunteer and share their tips to help viewers get a job, develop their career or business, or improve morale and productivity. I keep those goals in mind when I come up with topics. I'm trying to offer something each week that will appeal to the job seeker, the career minded, the new or expanding business owner, or leaders, managers and supervisors.

I'm always looking for new guests or individuals that have an expertise to help viewers / readers find and create good work or have a story to tell that can inform and inspire others!

Thanks Mark - interesting idea. My thinking for using "Good Work NOW!" in the title is to let readers know it is a weekly column, which may not be conveyed without it .... I'm wondering if there is another option .... One example is that Sac Press reframed this week's article title as "This Week on Good Work NOW!", and left out "toxic co-workers", on the "culture" page ....

Help me understand why you think this weekly column is an infomercial? All newspapers have some kind of column that offers tips for business, careers, etc. (ie, Career Builder in the Sunday Sac Bee). This is essentially the same thing with a supplemental video component. And, as stated in the background/disclosure, this column and accompanying TV show is a non-commerical, volunteer effort. The definitions I found on the web indicate that informercials are commercial with their intent (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=ig&defl=en&q=define:infomercial&ei=PptJSuOLO4XQsgO526noBw&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title),

I encourage other readers and Sac Press to weigh in on this. Thanks.
