So excited to see this come to fruition! Chris is an amazing chef, has a completely unique perspective and well formed appreciation for great beer, and is a huge resource in this city for cycling expertise. I really think this reinvigorated venture plays so well to his greatest strengths, and will give the community another excellent spot to enjoy tasty brews in a fun environment. Cannot wait!

What the heck? Sac Press comments have sure changed in tone lately. I lived in Curtis Park for years and my backyard abutted that property. Every year I counted over 40 different species of migratory birds in my yard, had raccoon families that visited my oak trees, and a plethora of insects, lizards, and snakes that traveled through. Removing old trees never pays off, and replacing them with lots of small saplings on another property no less, doesn't provide the needs of the plants animals that exist there. Development for developments sake is really unnecessary given the economic climate these days and there are many examples of developers choosing to 1. work with neighborhoods to have a congenial relationship and 2. choosing to leave green space that accentuates the building plans aesthetic value and energy bills. Continuing to live like we are not part of the world around us only ensures our eventual demise will be swifter and uglier.

I lived for years in a rental that abutted the UP property and have worked at Sacramento City College(SCC) for ten years. My backyard every spring and summer was filled with birds, ladybugs, lizards, butterflies, and a family of raccoons all emanating from the open space behind it, contaminated soil or not. I do believe the land could be better used, much in the ways Corbett has proposed, and can tell you from my own personal experience, the neighborhood would best utilize walkable village inspired building, rather than Petrovich commuter-suburban sprawl. Leaving green space, keeping the building limited and aesthetically pleasing, while still providing a useful commercial area is possible without having to lose all the beauty of the natural world around us. We have such few opportunities in big cities to make good choices regarding open space for those who come after us. I sincerely hope the City Council takes this time to really listen to what the people in the neighborhood want to see, would enjoy the benefits of, and even offer the students of SCC inspiration of how sustainably developed planning can be vital to their future. Thank you for this article, I will be at the meeting tonight!

This was one of the best stories I have heard this entire year, and I am so thankful that there are people like you, and Othello, and the 311 operator around. I have been able to give back in much the same way as you did that night, and I have been the girl on the street needing help desperately. Every single time we as an individual or a community take the the time to provide hope for another, I think we've made huge strides in being better people. If not for people like you and those that helped you, along with fateful nights where the stars are all aligned, I don't know if I would be here today to read this. Thank you Rhonda.

Excellent article-water is a resource we cannot afford globally and locally to take for granted. I sincerely hope that the city council will give residents an opportunity to have a say in how we as a community can best use our precious natural resources and not give it away without limits to a corporate entity that has no interest in the health and well being of residents. I know the economy is terrible and there are many people out there that need the jobs that would come with this plant, but people can live (albeit not easily) without jobs. What we can't live without is water.

I'm not a vegetarian. I'm not interested in forcing my opinion on others. I'd like to have a reasonable discussion with you, but all you seem to be focused on is making asinine assumptions based on your limited experiences. Can we try to get back to what might be helpful (or hurtful if that is your opinion) about people seeing this movie? Do you think that factory farmed meat and produce is a benefit to consumers? If so, how? Do you think that oil production, or the use of fossil fuels and it's extent is important when considering what to buy at the grocery store? What do you find objectionable about the slow food movement? And finally, can you answer any of these questions without reverting back to neatly placing people and their interests into categories that make you comfortable to mock and deride?

I don't see you discussing any actual well processed thoughts. So far, all you've managed to do is throw out a pile of "labels" to neatly identify that which you, clearly, do not understand. If you don't agree with the writer of this article, or the comments made, why don't you try doing it by making cognizant, intelluctually stimulating arguments for your position that don't require the use of categorizing you're supposed enemy (though the only shots fired by you have been using the big scary words like Liberal, and Socialist, and for god sakes not radical nut jobs!! Help!)?

Tell me Mr. Knapp, what have you added to the topic here besides, oh what was your word? Ah, that's right-drivel. Seems fitting.

It's obvious that Knapp is just looking to derail any actual discussion of valid content by tossing out blatant inflammatory trolling responses. I'd suggest ignoring him geofreak since he clearly isn't interested in having a meaningful discussion. Go crawl back in your hole Knapp-the people here; vegetarians, radicals, conservatives, nut jobs or communist alike don't seem to want to engage in a conversation with someone unwilling to express thoughts not riddled with rhetoric.
