Chris Little’s Social Skills Will Beat Cohn

I was truly fascinated by Stephen Gillis’ article “City Council Candidates Use Facebook to Connect With Community” today.  In my view, as someone working with Social Media daily, I would say Steve Cohn is not using Social Media as an effective part of his campaign. On the other hand, Chris Little has 716 fans on his Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Elect-Chris-Little/216446910449?ref=ts) to Cohn’s 214.  Because Little has been so diligent in using his Facebook and Twitter accounts as a communications vehicle to voters, he has made up ground on a 16 year career politician in just 5 months.  The result is nearly 1000 lawn signs being displayed on individual yards throughout Dist

Conversation about: The influence of Yelp on Sacramento restaurants

Yep! Like it or not it feeds into perception of your establishment. To say you don't care about Yelp is like saying you don't care about my needs as a customer. Like shuttersue said below, you kind of have to read between the lines of a review to figure out if it's a genuine review or not. This article could apply to any social media platform really because it's main point is how do you measure revenue. Yelp, Facebook, Twitter are like the 'ol comment card left at the table to be filled out before you leave the restaurant. If someone leaves a negative comment, use that as an opportunity to fix the issue and hopefully get your customer back. Most times people are willing and want to come back as long as you acknowledge that their complaint was valid.

Conversation about: A Kings move is a Sacramento loss

I would like to see one of my favorite bands, U2 here in Sac again. Would hate to have to drive to the Bay Area or my least favorite of all towns, Reno for a show like that. Wake up Sac! Think big picture!

Conversation about: Cultivating a healthy comment ecosystem

Just curious (and this really is just a question), why is it necessary to name the user you are removing from the site? Don't other sites just state that the comment was removed due to abuse and deal with that user behind the scenes directly?
