Conversation about: The Dire Circumstances of Dyer Lane: Urban Legend or Truth

When I was in high school, in the mid - late 80's, my friends and I went to Dyer Lane, after going to an all ages night club. We were curious and wanted to have some fun, after hearing about 2 boys being hung and murdered on meet hooks, in the slaughter house (funny how that story keeps changing about the slaughter house) and about the KKK. We intentionally drove through there, wanting to either draw attention or to debunk the urban legends, by having 2 people ride on the hood of my car, both Hispanic (It was their idea, not mine). At this point, we were thinking, we didn't see the KKK, obviously, since it was known they use to be there in the 30's and 40's. But we did almost see that tree, at the bend of the road, closer than what we wanted? It was a close call, but no one got hurt. Unfortunately, though, my car did get stuck in the mud and we had to all get out and push it. The joke was on us, trying to be bad asses, when we were suddenly an easy target for any pissed off ghosts or the living? But nothing happened, that night. Although, when some of us came back, two weeks later, on a Saturday night, we saw a huge burning cross. This freaked us out. So, we turned around and drove out of there, like a bat out of hell. One of my close friends, who was with us and was her first time there, decided to never speak to me, again. Oops! We seriously did not believe any of the KKK were still there? Anyhow, I also remember seeing an old man on a tractor and saw him, when I had returned, for the first time, in 20 years.
