Wednesday’s forecast predicts rain, and Lounge on 20 would usually be a place to take cover, but if you were to visit the restaurant and bar Feb. 16 from 6 - 8 p.m., it might be raining men, as that's the night Sacramento’s Most Eligible Bachelor will be announced. The second annual competition is hosted by local blog Girls on the Grid. It is a nomination-based contest, and this year there were 30 nominations, with bachelors ranging from an interior designer to a chef and even a nurse anesthetist. The owner of Cheap Thrills, Fred Smith, or “Uncle Fred” as he likes to be called, announced he is retiring and closing the store. The costume shop at 1209 21st St. was slated to close Jan. 31, according to manager Noelle Castro. Once she started calling loyal customers to tell them they were closing, many of them asked to keep it open for a bit longer, she said. Smith broke the news to his employees about three weeks ago, and Castro said she had heard rumors, but no one believed it until Smith announced it. “When I was putting up the sign in the window, a tear dropped down from my eye,” she said. I prefer the downtown plaza because I get to shop outside and for what stores they do have, those stores seem to have more of a variety then what the arden stores carry. Sadly though, there arent that many stores left there which doesnt give shoppers much of a variety to choose from. I think having the theatre and johnny rockets along with starbucks is extremely helpful to downtown plaza.
It's nice to see that sacramento is growing. San Fran usually has all the cool street performers or LA. But now we have someone unique of our own :)
