The people of Rocklin and its surrounding communities have picked up again this year where the City left off. Celebrate America took the place of the Rocklin Jubilee last year when the City of Rocklin cut the funding for the decades-running event. But never fear - the private sector is here! With the help of K-Love/Air-1 and dozens of other sponsoring businesses and donating individuals, Sunset Christian Center is hosting the 2nd Annual Celebrate America event at the Twin Oaks Park in Rocklin tonight. Gates open at 4PM, and the patriotic musical extravaganza begins at 8PM and ends with an aerial fireworks show. This free family-friendly event will be a treat for young and old, and be
One look at its website will tell you that Sunset Christian Center in Rocklin is using social media to reach its congregation and the community. Facebook, Twitter, blogs, animated ministry guide, media library—it’s all there, and not in a cheesy, DIY kind of way. It’s sleek, sophisticated, and engaging. The same can be said for the new children’s ministry areas. Just off the main lobby a 35-ft pirate ship moored in azure “water” marks the entrance to The Cove, where first- through third-graders meet. Thank you, David, for covering this great event! For more photos, videos, blogs and attenders' comments, you may visit the website at CelebrateAmericaOnline.com. Here's one of my favorite comments: Johnny Lujan says: July 8, 2010 at 1:41 PM WOW what a great show. This needs to be incorporated into every city across this great country of ours. To celebrate America is a long awaited event where I believe every veteran is proud of. Some came home to nothing, some came home to ridicule, some came home with emotional scars they still live with today. Knowing they went over there and fought for the rights of everyone here in this great nation is finally the most honorable thing for them. To have the rest of the country celebrating and honoring the country they fought for and some had to die for is truly and honorable thing. The firework show was one of the best I have ever scene. The vendors were top notch, plenty of things for the kids to stay occupied, an unbelievable helicopter exit, over 10,000 people together celebrating, Songs and Hymns from our great country, and a short message of hope. How much better can it get? I will never miss another one and I will be glad to help promote next year’s event for sure…June 25 2011. Don’t miss it…..GOD BLESSED AMERICA AND WE SHOULD BE FOREVER HUMBLE AND BLESSED WE LIVE IN THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD…….AMEN!!!!!!!
