I can easily envision THE BEAT shrinking by a bit and NEWS-BEAT rolling in just beside some classic vinyl. The two would mesh perfectly!! I surely can't be the only one with this fantastic idea.

I think they could still be successful in a location that isn't so high rent. The Marrs building is fantastic but a bit to swanky for a newsprint shop.

This place will do well. The location is fantastic. Being a Davis Native I too have seen many places come and go in this location. The difference with De Vere's is that they actually know how to run a business. Great food and drinks with a well trained staff. If they can replicate the midtown location they have it made. The only concern I can see is the drink prices. The drinkers in Davis that will keep your business thriving are looking for value. Midtown prices will not work well in Davis.
