About Me

Founder and Editor of TheSportsInformant.com, I aim to cover sports in the Sacramento area. An independent source for local sports not dictated by a major corporation, the Website offers readers a different perspective on the local sports scene, and the opportunity for feedback and even the opportunity to write articles on their favorite teams. I've also been the sports editor at four different newspapers prior to creating the Website, and a professional journalist for seven years.

Conversation about: Rookie of the Year? So what?

Marty's a legend in Sacramento, just ask the NBA players, who dedicate half an hour of their postgame time to one-on-one interviews with him. I've seen it myself. He's well-respected in all areas of the game. On that note, I disagree with Marty's opinion here. The Rookie of the Year Award is a huge honor. Tyreke Evans is only one man and can only control what he does on the court. He single-handedly carried the team this year to 25 wins as a rookie, and he is being honored for doing so. While fans would like to see a playoff run, they have to appreciate having a current and future star gracing their home court each night.

Conversation about: Heart of a Lion: WEC 48

While Faber's heart is worth a story of its own, and the Sacramento Press is a hometown paper, wec48fight is right that Aldo's brilliance shouldn't be overshadowed. Faber was in great shape for that fight, and prepared as he could be for Aldo, who seems to be one of the best pound-for-pound in the world. The story of the fight was Faber being overmatched, and as proud as he is, he gutted out all five rounds. He'll be back, but Aldo is the top dog here for sure.
