I agree Sherrie! There is a Meetup group here in Sacramento that attends local comedy shows as a group. You should join! It's called SacramentoComedy Lovers on Meetup.com
Zenia, You ROCK! You bring some of the best comedy to the Sacramento community... and the shows are FREE! Thank you for all that you and your students do to put on such wonderful shows.
Thanks for your comments Paul. I was seated right behind you! I was told quite early that Williams was not granting any press interviews and even pulling as many strings as I could, I still didn't get backstage. I would have been happy just to shake his hand.
Thanks for your input Lindol and David. I obviously fell short in reporting the "poetry in motion" that was Williams' one hour and 45 minute performance. It was more of a "dress rehearsal" than a "workout" and it was executed near perfectly. The quantity and quality of the material shows that it was crafted under Williams' tutelage but with professional fine-tuning. Those that attended Conan O'Brien's "Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television Tour" at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in May, were privy to the perfect blending of a comedic genius with the support of a slew of writers (who Conan openly promotes and acknowledges for their brilliance) There is a huge difference between a comedy club headliner and an arena filling comedy performance. Those of us who attended were able to not only enjoy the spectacular performance, but also feel the exchange of love and admiration between the audience and a comedic superstar in a very intimate setting. No matter who wrote the jokes.. it was pure Robin Williams.
"These gals delivered..." "These girls genuinely like each other... and it comes through in the performance" "Lady Business was a blast..." None are putdowns. This a very positive review of a show that deserved such exuberance. Whatever synonym for female the reviewer used, they were all in a positive light. We change the world through smiles and laughter. Please contribute.
I want to say that Brian has done a fantastic job of bringing unique shows to Sacramento that you only find in larger, more metropolitan cities. With the very reasonable prices, the Sacramento Comedy Spot is one of the best entertainment values around. Show your support and your "hip-ness" by attending one or more shows. You will get hooked! Thank you DeTermine! It was a great show and a fun review to write! Thanks for your comments!
Ann, Thank you for all of your hard work bringing all of the music news to us. You rock!
Hi Erin, Did you hear that we have access before the show and you have Ralphie's permission to shoot during his show. That is fairly unprecedented. It's gonna be great!
Thank you for your comments! I am looking forward to meeting Ralphie in person. And you are right fiveohday, he is both complicated yet very down-to-earth!
Hi Compadre, Unfortunately, the Sacramento Press deleted esroberto's comments because it violated their rules by calling me "brain dead and inconsequential." I had my mis-spellings corrected and rechecked my facts on Ron Paul. He did run under the Libertarian Party in 1988, not 2008 as I had reported. But yes, I am a comedy aficionado, not a journalist. So, esroberto, if you are reading this, I promise more fact checking if you promise to smile more!
Not yet Linol, But I have my ear to the ground! If you are getting the SacramentoComedy.Com newsletter or checking every week, you can see on the calendar who is coming down the pipe. Thank you for your support!
Aww shucks! Thank you! Just trying to make Sacramento a fun place, one laugh at a time!
You can check out the video interview that we did a week after this article. One of the funniest interviews that we have done! (http://www.sacramentocomedy.com/lavell-crawford-speaks-to-sacramento-comedy-com/)
It was a very fun night! Zenia at Unique always does a WONDERFUL job bringing great comedy talent to Sac. and doing it for free! I also forgot to credit the photos. It was Nallelie Vega. She took some amazing shots during the show! Awrsome job!
Not much. The professionals work very hard at perfecting their material and their act without obnoxious non-requiters hurled at them. Joe is very talented and lucky. Think of Michael Richards (Kramer from Seinfeld) who tried to engage some hecklers and through his own ineptness, turned the crowd, and later, when a video was revealed, the public, against him. He is still professionally licking those wounds.
Hi guys, Yes, your schtick never gets old! Well, at least you are professionals at it. So, keep it up and perfect your act. One day you guys will rule the big leagues! Chase your dreams!
Great idea! There is an improv group in NY that allows and encourages the audience to tweet scene ideas during the show and they show up on a screen in back of the stage. The troupe members keep scanning for new twists and ideas. I thought that was a great fusion of comedy, theater and technology! TweetProv.
Hi Ali, You should be proud that you got up there and tried! You might want to re-read the column above and take another shot at it! I am sure we can find some fans to root for you!

What a great article! Thank you!
