Del Paso Heights meeting with Allen Warren, Re: Marysville and Grand issues Jan. 30th

Meet with our new District 2 Councilman Allen Wayne Warren To discuss, plan and implement the Marysville and Grand Improvement Project Wednesday, January 30, 2013 6:00pm Kinney Police Facility – Community Room 3550 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento CA We will address how to make the gateway to our neighborhood safer for ourselves, our children and our businesses. The longstanding prevalence of loitering/public intoxication, drug dealing, violence etc. at Marysville and Grand has gone on for years.  Many residents refuse to shop, or even walk through, the area.  The bus stops are hangouts for transients, who really don’t need to be out there drinking and doing drugs. Opinion: Why is Del Paso Heights such a slummy ghetto ? Why do city and state government refuse to help when asked to ?

Take Back Marysville AND Grand ! ~ Del Paso Heights is trying hard to improve its quality of life and its image. There has been a long history of socially irresponsible management on the part of the Rainbow Market and the 3621 Marysville Blvd. Mini-Mart, that lie within about a block of each other at the gateway to our neighborhood. The mayor's office, the police department and the Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control (ABC) are well aware of the issues, which include shootings, assaults, robberies, public intoxication, public urination/defecation, etc. The community has long known these stores to be attractive nuisances. When asked by the community to close these stores down and/o

As much as I would like to force-feed some spiritual medicine to a segment of the troubled and homeless, I can't. Unfortunately, as a society, we can't. I think it would be appropriate for the City to establish the SafeGround they've been discussing and give the transients the option of utilizing it or leaving town. Really, we don't sleep, pee, shoot up, steal, etc. in their neighborhoods, do we ? The ones that want to continue living that way at the Safeground will learn that you have to live within certain rules of courtesy. If you want to be homeless, at least be respectful of others. There are many homeless who are respectful, it's just not the alcoholics and the drug addicts among them.

Mark - since people do have right to destroy themselves in public and we don't have the right to force any positive change upon them, our neighbors think it's fair that we stop enabling their behavior, which is appalling and offensive to the majority of our neighborhood, for a variety of reasons, humanitarian, quality of life, monetary, etc. The current plan is to BOTH educate the community AND drive the root cause of the problem out of our neighborhood. One will lead to the other ...
