Conversation about: Termite Swarm Season is Here!

For someone that moved into a house from outside the region and a few months later came home to a room full of termites due to swarm season I find the article very good and informative. For those of you that are anti-business take a look around, almost every article on this site you could say is a commercial. UFL brings pro football to Sac - they should have bought an ad, take it down! Agent Ribbons leaves sac, they should have bought an ad what a commercial for their band! XOSO's Winter 2010 Volleyball Champions, that group should have bought an ad! The purists in this group kill me. If you are worried about the financial stability of SacPress click on their banner ads and show your support by patronizing their advertisers. If you don’t like an article don’t read it and don’t comment on it – let it die a digital death.

Let’s focus on what we have in our region - we should turn old sac into a year round farmers market like Grandville Island in Vancouver or the water front in Seattle. Make it a daily destination for locals and tourist's - focus on sustainable food that is grown throughout our part of the world and teach people how to cook and eat quality food. This will create an environment that will allow quality restaurants from around the region to access these resources and teach our good citizens that the food they consume can not only be good for them but good for the farmers and good for the environment. - Just my 2 cents

Conversation about: Commentary: Room at the Inn in the Houses of God?

Great article - what about the other religions? All I see is a list of Protestant churches, no Catholic, Mormon, Jewish, Buddhist or Islamic buildings are listed? Seems very, very one sided - or are you just targeting the Protestant churches in the area?

Conversation about: Denver mayor, downtown offer ideas

Based on the comments of the "Regular Crowd" that responds to almost every story in SacPress, we are far from that achieving that agenda. I am pretty sure if KJ said up was up and down was down they would first tell you up is down and down is up and at the same time tie it into some grand agenda of KJ and his "tribe" to pave over the rest of Sacramento. Ugghhh!

Conversation about: Natomas Chamber Campaigns To Keep Arena In Natomas

Continuing the practice of spreading the civic amenities into the suburbs will only add to traffic congestion and continue the planning practice of the 70’s and 80’s. We need to address the issues of not realizing an environmentally friendly city and I feel this is the first step towards that goal. Natomas does not have a light rail link or an Amtrak station or even a bus stop to the stadium. By moving the entertainment facility into the rail yards we can take the first step towards creating a new dense downtown environment that is successful for the environment and the city.

Conversation about: Metro Chamber: Arena report confirms economic benefits of a new facility

I agree - a downtown location gives new life to a part of Sacramento that has been a black eye to the city and never been able to keep or attract business other than state or county offices.

Conversation about: Metro Chamber urges new arena task force to be creative and courageous

I hope they take a look at price for any new solution. The arts and small non profit groups often times are unable to use such facilities due to the cost of union labor and other city induced restrictions, the cost of union wages and forced pricing structures often times drive up ticket costs for the smaller non-profit community groups. The smaller arts organizations need to be able to use such a facility and cover cost while at the same time keeping ticket prices reasonable for families and the community.

Great comments - I have to agree. We need to think long term and how this new facility can be useful to the city and not just the Kings.

This is not a basketball issue - If the downtown area where to see a new arena, true revitalization could be provided in and around the downtown core. I hope to see some true action from all the stakeholders in this discussion. Good Luck!

Ok - This should be good. Let the anti-KJ crowd go 'nuts" and if you can keep your conversation posts shorter than the story you are commenting about. Those pro-business types cant focus that much without pictures...

Conversation about: The invisible city manager?

Good Point Jim... At least the voters will have a say if the SMI passes. There is no accountability from the city manager to the voters under the current system this is why Ray can stay invisible.
