For someone that moved into a house from outside the region and a few months later came home to a room full of termites due to swarm season I find the article very good and informative. For those of you that are anti-business take a look around, almost every article on this site you could say is a commercial. UFL brings pro football to Sac - they should have bought an ad, take it down! Agent Ribbons leaves sac, they should have bought an ad what a commercial for their band! XOSO's Winter 2010 Volleyball Champions, that group should have bought an ad! The purists in this group kill me. If you are worried about the financial stability of SacPress click on their banner ads and show your support by patronizing their advertisers. If you don’t like an article don’t read it and don’t comment on it – let it die a digital death.

Let’s focus on what we have in our region - we should turn old sac into a year round farmers market like Grandville Island in Vancouver or the water front in Seattle. Make it a daily destination for locals and tourist's - focus on sustainable food that is grown throughout our part of the world and teach people how to cook and eat quality food. This will create an environment that will allow quality restaurants from around the region to access these resources and teach our good citizens that the food they consume can not only be good for them but good for the farmers and good for the environment. - Just my 2 cents

Continuing the practice of spreading the civic amenities into the suburbs will only add to traffic congestion and continue the planning practice of the 70’s and 80’s. We need to address the issues of not realizing an environmentally friendly city and I feel this is the first step towards that goal. Natomas does not have a light rail link or an Amtrak station or even a bus stop to the stadium. By moving the entertainment facility into the rail yards we can take the first step towards creating a new dense downtown environment that is successful for the environment and the city.

I hope they take a look at price for any new solution. The arts and small non profit groups often times are unable to use such facilities due to the cost of union labor and other city induced restrictions, the cost of union wages and forced pricing structures often times drive up ticket costs for the smaller non-profit community groups. The smaller arts organizations need to be able to use such a facility and cover cost while at the same time keeping ticket prices reasonable for families and the community.

Nope it is true - sorry but lets start with DHL, they are out of the domestic delivery business and do not fly planes or drive trucks around here any more. When was the last time you saw a DHL Truck? Second issue is that FedEx fly’s out of Sacramento International not Mather. Three, UPS fly into Mather in the AM to drop off freight and flys out in the PM to take the outbound freight. UPS has a west coast hub in Irvine and Oakland, FedEx has west coast hubs in Oakland and L.A. There are no air hubs in Sacramento. As far as the commuter traffic you are correct, however, I never mentioned commuter traffic in my post.

my point is this group wants to sell tickets and take your money just as much as Nestle wants to sell you water and take your money. It is all about the Cash... Who is monitering the group that made the film? Where does their money come from? What is their carbon foot print? My point is that if they are going to make money off of killing jobs in our region who is willing to step in and fill the gap? This deal was legal and above board (http://www.sacto.org/index.cfm/sacto_news/press_releases/nestle-waters-north-america-selects-city-of-sacramento-for-new-facility/) and all the elected officials and local goverment was in favor of it. I wish our elected officials would grow a pair, I am sick of seeing knee jerk reactions that cause our region to loss even more jobs. California is a tough place to make a $ these days.

And they wonder why America is so upset. We deal with the cost every day. We understand the idea of risk vs. reward. We understand that if I want to keep my things after my house burns down I better have insurance. If I want to keep my car I better have insurance. If I want to keep retirement I better invest in my 401k. If I want to have a Doctor look at me when I am ill I better have INSURANCE. We are the people that own insurance and pay for the things we need not the things we want. Congress and Obama do not understand that, look at the budget deficit!

You went to the event but failed to stay for the event. Do you always stand on the sidelines and complain about things you fail to engage? You name call and demean a group because of a “strong whiff” that you smelled? I wonder if that smell was not the stench of your lack of action to change this city and the environment we all have to live and work in. I am sorry that you are now over 40 and feel a sense of accomplishment by trying to tear down others that are succeeding in creating something you did not. Life is for the living and those that choose to take action to create a environment they are proud of. I am glad somebody is doing something other than “Bitch”.

PS – I disagree with your assessment of the group based on the description of the categorizations you used in your original response.

Civic Responsibility is defined as the "responsibility of a citizen" (Dictionary.com). It is comprised of actions and attitudes associated with democratic governance and social participation. Civic responsibility can include participation in government, church, volunteers and memberships of voluntary associations. Actions of civic responsibility can be displayed in advocacy for various causes, such as political, economic, civil, and environmental or quality of life issues.

Civic means, "of, relating to, or belonging to a city, a citizen, or citizenship, municipal or civil society" (ibid.).

Responsibility refers to "the state or quality of being responsible or something for which one is responsible such as a duty, obligation or burden" (ibid.).
