I talked to the couple that owns the Fremont Market at 24th and N, Directly across from the American Market on the opposite corner. I asked them if they were expecting a dip in business, since vehicles traveling into town would have easier access to the American Market versus Fremont Market. They both smiled, pointed outside to the 24th Street parking spaces. "We have parking, they don't" So in short, no. I use N Street everyday, so my plan is to watch for small changes and base my opinion on what I encounter. I imagine it could not be too terrible.
Leave your car at home and ride Light Rail. The route 30 and 31 also serve the Sacramento Valley Station. The first train on the Weekdays leaves Sutter Street in Folsom at 5 AM and arrives at Sacramento Valley at 5:55 AM. The last train on the Weekdays leaves Sacramento Valley at 11:28 PM and arrives at Sunrise at 12:10 AM, all making connections with Watt/I80 and Meadowview trains.
I've often wondered if the City, in conjunction with Regional Transit could provide a frequent shuttle from a Light Rail station, Say 16th Street traveling up to J Street and looping back according to the Gallery Map for a nominal fee...something like 50 Cents.

Pipe dream probably considering the cutbacks RT has already made to service and the increases in fare coming up in 2009, but it could work....? Judging by how many people I see on my train at night on the weekends going Downtown to eat and drink, such a service could possibly be useful, not to mention safer than driving.
I agree with Mr. Burg on just declaring SS a Street Fair and calling it by another name, while creating another Monthly event for fine arts. Whatever happens, it would be awfully nice if the City had a NO PARKING rule along the residential streets adjacent to, or as in my case 6 blocks away from the main SS attractions unless you had the required permit. People from the Burbs's can't on street park to save their lives......make them pay to park in City owned garages.
Conversation about: N Street, one way no more
As a side note, I was just walking down N at 22nd as the workers were taking down the black & white one way signs. I asked if I could have one..... They said no.
