The "Hotel California" is the former Norconian Resort Hotel located in Norco, California. The spa, built in 1926, was a financial failure, but the facilities were solid, so the US Navy converted the plush hotel to a Navy hospital during WWII, continuing through the Korean conflict. After the wars, the facility lay vacant for some time, until 1963, when most of it became the California Rehabilitation Center, for the treatment of heroin addiction of returning vets. Eventually it came under the control of the CA Dept. of Corrections, and has been used primarily to treat criminals convicted of drug crimes. It is known as the "Hotel California" due to it's former use as a hotel. The original main building is an architectural treasure.

I have to call BS on the Ryde Hotel claim (as that's the only factual content of this article).
Wikipedia says "The song has been given several interpretations by fans and critics alike, but the Eagles have described it as their "interpretation of the high life in Los Angeles".
The Ryde Hotel website doesn't have anything about Hotel California either.

I give this article 4 brown salamander's out of 5.

The end of 2007 to 2008 my friends and I use to party down there all the time.. we have had a cop follow us then disappear.. another night 4 of us drove of the side of the road and partied in the car for a few hours listenng to music because it was cold. When we started to leave we backed out of where we had turned in and something started smashing through the back seat where a friend and I were sitting. We got out of the car a huge tree stump magically appeared behind us and was stuck under the car... one friend took off runing while another friend and I pushed the car off the stump while the driver was steering... sooo creepy. Havnt been on that road since. While partying a few times before that... random people have shown up and talked to us and then disappeared...I believe it is haunted

The trips are offered from Welk Timeshare if you opt out from purchasing one. You get to chose from multiple packages, albeit your stay is only 3 days, I considered they were giving you an opportunity to check out their property on the island to reconsider a possible investment. If you check through the BBB, there multiple complaints...too many to count, where you send in your deposit for taxes on the tickets to HTOA as requested from HTOA and the paperwork they have mailed to you, and provide 2 alternate dates of travel for them to accommodate you over the course of 12 months. They never seem to accommodate, and pretty much ALMOST never have returned anyone's deposits either. I was a bit disappointed to find out it was a scam and that they are not getting into trouble for it. So much for honest practices. Although I am reminded if it sounds too good to be true...it probably is.

It's not the purpose of a disclosure statement to tell readers that the person who posted the article is also the author - that's the default assumption. It would make more sense to tell readers if that wasn't the case - although there's no need for anybody to be posting anybody else's work.

The more relevant disclosure in this case would be to explain your position with HPI and your connection to the people involved in the interview. Also, in the body of the text, you shouldn't be throwing around acronyms without introducing what they stand for the first time they appear - you have no reason to expect anybody to know what they mean.

Me and my friends love doing fun little paranormal outings. I have an e.v.p. From sailor bar in orangevale. Also my friends and i have seen an apparation. Its pretty creepy. We have also been to the round room in grass valley and we have had plenty of wierd things happen there. You should check them out if you have time or havent already.

Impeccable character development, I especially like the struggle between the protagonist and antagonist. This story illuminates the dynamics of human interaction and the struggle to do right, though temptation is ever present. You have dissolved the cliche and typically predictable manichean struggle of right and wrong and have found a voice in contemporary circles. Keep the fantastic work going.

Another brilliant example of why community journalism will often fail. SacPress should institute some quality thresholds and take notice of the community voting 'thumbs down' that they provide. What are they for if not to help flag articles that are offensive, illiterate or (in the case of this contributor) dull and disjointed?

This author's submissions are always rambling and incoherent and the subject matter is risible to say the least. It often seems to be a dump of whatever blog it is that he/they own and has had the very minimum of sub-editing.

If the Sac Press is a Community Press then I think the Community should also have a say in what will and will not appear here. Discuss.

D. Bond. No license shall be issued until the applicant has filed with the city clerk a surety bond in the principal sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) executed as surety by a good and sufficient corporate surety authorized to do a surety business in this state and as principal by the applicant which shall have been approved by the city attorney as to form, which bond shall have been given to insure good faith and fair dealing on the part of said applicant and as a guarantee of indemnity for any and all loss, damage, injury, theft, or other unfair dealing suffered by any patron of said applicant within the city during the term of the license. An applicant may deposit cash in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) in lieu of filing a surety bond, which money shall be deposited by the city clerk with the city treasurer and shall be used for the same purposes as a bond. If an applicant deposits cash in lieu of a bond, said cash shall be returned to said applicant upon request but not sooner than four years after the last day such applicant holds a license hereunder.
     E. Term. Each license issued pursuant to this section shall be valid for one year from the date of issuance, unless suspended or revoked at an earlier time.
     F. Renewal. If, prior to the expiration date of a currently valid license, the licensee applies for the renewal of such license, the chief of police, or his designee, shall grant such renewal provided that all facts set forth on the original application are substantially the same and that the applicant has not been convicted of any of the offenses set forth in subsection (C)(2) of this section and provided further that such application is accompanied by a license fee in the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00).
     G. Suspension, Revocation. Any license issued pursuant hereto shall be subject to suspension or revocation by the chief of police for violation of any provision of this section or for grounds that would warrant the denial of the issuance of such license in the first instance.
     H. Appeal. Within ten (10) days after any suspension or revocation of a license, the person aggrieved may appeal such action to the city council by filing a written request for a hearing with the council. Upon the filing of such a request, the city clerk shall set a time and place for hearing and shall notify the appellant thereof. The hearing shall be set within thirty (30) days after the request is filed. The suspension or revocation of a license shall be stayed pending the decision of the council on the appeal.
     I. Transfer of License. No licensee shall transfer the license to any other person.
     J. Posting of License. Every licensee shall post the license in a conspicuous place upon the premises.
     K. Appeals Procedure. Any appeal to the city council under this section shall be governed by the provisions of Sections 1.24.010 through 1.24.100 of this code. (Prior code § 46.01.002)

I spent a lot of time here in the 1960 and 1970's. Listening to Credence, picking almonds and blackberries, swimming in the creek when our work was done. It was good family fun and we never felt scared of anything. I love walking down Dyer Lane because the oak trees form an arch over the road. In the spring, wind blows the wild grasses like a ballet. All I ever experienced there was good.

When I was in high school, in the mid - late 80's, my friends and I went to Dyer Lane, after going to an all ages night club. We were curious and wanted to have some fun, after hearing about 2 boys being hung and murdered on meet hooks, in the slaughter house (funny how that story keeps changing about the slaughter house) and about the KKK. We intentionally drove through there, wanting to either draw attention or to debunk the urban legends, by having 2 people ride on the hood of my car, both Hispanic (It was their idea, not mine). At this point, we were thinking, we didn't see the KKK, obviously, since it was known they use to be there in the 30's and 40's. But we did almost see that tree, at the bend of the road, closer than what we wanted? It was a close call, but no one got hurt. Unfortunately, though, my car did get stuck in the mud and we had to all get out and push it. The joke was on us, trying to be bad asses, when we were suddenly an easy target for any pissed off ghosts or the living? But nothing happened, that night. Although, when some of us came back, two weeks later, on a Saturday night, we saw a huge burning cross. This freaked us out. So, we turned around and drove out of there, like a bat out of hell. One of my close friends, who was with us and was her first time there, decided to never speak to me, again. Oops! We seriously did not believe any of the KKK were still there? Anyhow, I also remember seeing an old man on a tractor and saw him, when I had returned, for the first time, in 20 years.

OMG - I thought TPTB had put their aging agent Jay Reynolds out to pasture and a pension. Guess times are tough for the cabal as well since they drag out old trolls and dust them off for our continued enjoyment, albeit under chemtrailed skies everywhere. Jay, how about this recent scene from an Austrian mountain not located in a flight path:

The City Council has been clear in its policy concerning the Sacramento zoo for more than 20 years. If the zoo wishes to expand its acreage, it needs to find a new location that would permit it grow. William Land Park is Sacramento's most heavily used and treasured public park, with over 1.4 million visitors each year. Public parks require wide open vistas. Putting most of it behind high fences and requiring $13 to get in is inconsistent with the very nature of a public park.

Land Park is Sacramento's backyard with a multiplicity of wonderful uses from ball fields, to picnic areas, to an amphitheaters to playgrounds and more That is an important part of its very popular appeal. It shouldn't be dominated by any one use that blocks out wide open space.

A few month ago my brother was asleep next to his wife. She woke up to see a large, hairy black dog with red eyes sitting on my brother's chest and laughing at her. Since then my brother has gotten a divorce, decided to leave Galveston Texas. He was really close to his son. He has been terribly depressed and after my father's death he came out saying he was really a woman in his mind. He is now living as a woman (which is not a problem) but he is terribly depressed and only stays in his room on the computer. He hasn't tried to look into regaining his life or a job etc....He has been acting strange and many times he smells like a wet dog. Lately small baby serpents have been found in our living room almost daily. We are concerned. I looked up information using the internet on what the hound could signify and found something about the Campeche ghost dog, Voodoo dog or the Galveston devil. We don't know what this means or what we can do to help him. i hope to receive an answer soon. Thank you.

My friends and I spent a lot of time out there(since we could easily hide and get drunk without being bothered by adults and law enforcement) and would go out there day and night. Naturally night time was when we had the most "experiences". Now, 15 to 20 years later I still live only about 3/4 miles from it.
the church wonders: "let's see now, how can we keep the masses under our dominion and alienated from their own powers and skills...especially from their power of divination, because after all, WE need to be the only conduit to "god." ? ..oh, i know, lets call the Tarot evil!.... we'll have very half baked blogger and tv reality show ghost buster vilify the Tarot and ouija board as evil, a direct line to satan...that ought to scare them out of ever trying anything on their own...meanwhile, the cash and the victims will keep flowing in! remember folks, if it doesn't have the official vatican imprimature on it...it's evil!..... tomorrow we'll talk about what we're going to do to women."

Sorry Bo-Hop, in California, felons can not be bail fugitive recovery agents ( Bounty Hunters). Just because "Dog" is one, does not mean any felon can also be one.

One must understand, Hawaii is very lax on their bail bondsman rules and regulations. Most other states do not allow felons to work as bounty hunters. Nor will many bail bondsmen and women hire convicted felons.

Besides, Dog is really only looking for his wifes skips. How hard is it to fins someone on an island anyway?

From The Penguin Encyclopedia of Card Games, by David Parlett
"People are often surprised to learn that Tarot cards were originally invented for playing games, that such games are still widespread and popular in continental Europe, and that the employment of tarots for divination and fortune-telling is a relatively recent perversion of their proper use, dating only from the eighteenth century."

Instead of psychic spam disguised as "news" the media should tell the truth about tarot. Tarot was made for card games!

Psychics prey upon the weak and venerable to exploit the memories of their departed love ones. People who make extreme claims should be prepare to back it up with extreme evidence. I don't want to make this a personal attack, but seriously Paul, I've done some Google research of your name, don't you have enough of a footprint on the internet without clogging up the front page of sacpress with this "news"?

Why do these kinds of stories always devolve into the paranormal/paranoid realm and wind up being written by those who seem to believe that there are monsters in their closets and under their beds? I won't take the easy road of lampooning this sort of article by implying that it's author has missed some scheduled appointments with his medications, or depleted his aluminum foil hat cache...but I will say that IF there were such a menacing element in our midst, I would give more credence to the possibility if those purporting the notion omitted such lines as, "If you are watching Jesse Ventura's Conspiracy Theory on Tru TV, you will see a connection with InfraGard to the FEMA concentration camps...." Really? Jesse Ventura? Conspiracy theorists have come and gone throughout the centuries - usually leaving little doubt that they were no more than bored alarmists who wished others to buy into their paranoia to make themselves feel relevant, or to obtain their 15-minutes of fame, or to earn a fat paycheck. Water fluoridation, the Trilateral Commission, Bill Clinton's Body Count, The Illuminati - the list goes on. Though, the next time I walk across the Tower Bridge, I’m sure my pace will be a little quicker than usual. Ya never know.
