ACE Mentor Program is Making a Difference for High School Students

Architecture Construction Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program is a nonprofit organization, formed under Section 501(c) 3 of the District of Columbia in 2002. Prior to that date (1994), the ACE Mentor Program of New York City, the founding affiliate, directed ACE’s leadership. ACE now serves more than eighty cities in America — from New York to Los Angeles, Seattle to Miami, Chicago to Dallas, even Honolulu — and is still growing. Founded in 2007 with significant support from the Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF), the ACE Mentor Program of Greater Sacramento introduces interested high school students to the building industry’s wide range of exciting career opportunities. It starts with the premise of caring for high school students’ future by providing them a quality education to be successful. CHAED will deliver innovative methods to improve and achieve academic excellence, reduce the number of high school dropouts, and give students the opportunity to excel in higher learning and compete with today’s challenge. In today’s world, it is important that high school students stay current with technology and information, engage in real life applications, and be discipline in their study in order to be competitive. This school will provide the competitive edge. I think many parents want a public high school to serve the neighborhoods of Midtown, Oak Park, Eas

Spirit Of Volunteer

In the wake and aftermaths of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina there were a blanket full of firemen, policemen, emergency personnel, nurses, doctors and military helping to save lives and care for the injured. Fortunately, these tragic events do not happen too often and as a result, we do not see ev

Charter Schools is by choice and having said that, CHAED only caters to those desiring to attend. CHAED will be sensitive to the issues of Sacramento High School's surrounding neighborhoods and will aid to those parents whom feel a need for an alternative. Therefore, CHAED is designed to give parents an alternative that will enrich and provide their sons and daughters an opportunity in life. I am sensitive to the needs of a traditional high school and CHAED will represent a hybrid for both traditional and innovative curriculum. Ms. Millin, I recognize your viewpoint and your opinion. I appreciate your comment. Your comments only strengthens my further knowledge on the sensitivity and direction I need to take. When all is said and done the one thing that matters to me is that students will leave CHAED per OUTCOMES AND GOALS and the community is well served because of CHAED.

Restoration and historic architecture is one of the many important facets in studying architecture. Students will learn that part in the curriculum and have field trips to see old buildings in downtown. Thank you for your comment.

CHAED's goal is to provide a traditional high school setting while adding an innovative curriculum. If you go back and read the CURRICULUM FOCUS it answers your concerns of having a strong selection of elective classes. I believe this school will give kids the opportunity to know what they want to do and at best a direction for what they want to do. This school is not only for students and educators but for the community it serves. The facility act as a community hub for evening and weekend events and functions as an example. Its more than just a traditional school...Thanks for your comment, I appreciate your opinion.
