If Tretheway's campaign had come clean about what they were doing when they were first caught, we wouldn't still be talking about this. Once again, it's the lies, not the original act, that get you in the end. First, they were "doing her a favor" by taking down the signs that were supposedly illegal because they were blocking the public right of way (which they weren't). We're supposed to believe they wanted to save Ashby from bad publicity (then why was Roth there taking pictures?). Give me a break! Then there was the 311 call from a resident that turned out to be an e-mail from a Tretheway campaign contributor. Time to stop digging the hole deeper. Give us an honest explanation of how it was that Roth and Choppin were on that corner, and why they were there. Tell us whether or not there was a code violation, and if you claim there was, cite the section and verse. Then maybe we can move on to issues that really matter to District 1.
I have less of a problem with Tretheway failing to save Natomas bus service than I do with the fact that there is so little bus service here to be saved. Look at the map in today's Bee of the areas that lie outside of a half-mile of a bus route -- most of it is in North Natomas. An area with over 40,000 population located a few miles from downtown has only one pathetic route to downtown, and that doesn't even run nights or evenings to begin with. So did he not try to improve the bus service here (if it's not light rail, he can't be bothered?), or did he try and couldn't get it done? Either way, it's one more example of Tretheway failing his constituents, and one more reason he deserves to be voted out.
I've lived in North Natomas since 2001 and have seen first hand how Natomas has suffered from the neglect of our incumbent councilman. He's obviously far more interested in pumping countless millions of taxpayer dollars to downtown developers than serve the needs of his constituents. Time for change is long overdue, and we are incredibly fortunate to have a candidate as committed and talented as Angelique Ashby. She's already accomplished more for her community as a citizen than the incumbent has done on the council. And bbbbmer, I don't know enough about the people and issues involved in Land Park, where you live, and wouldn't presume to comment on them. You obviously are equally ignorant about my community and should do the same.
Conversation about: Tretheway claims police officers' union stole his online identity
Having a website named "raytretheway.com" that's a blank page is hardly misleading, it's as accurate a picture of his service to the Natomas community as could be!
