Conversation about: Sacramento Zoo looks for new home

I just hope all those animals get to a new home safely, and they lower the entry fees. Why is it always companies revoke the good things that are offered to us [the little slight ray of hope] then expect us to pay more to enjoy nothing. They removed most of the animals, and the ones that are there now refuse to come out their small hiding/living spots in the back. I don't blame them. I'd like to see a monkey or rhino take charge and run crazy through the zoo because they're fed up. Hey, it can happen. :)

Conversation about: HUGE TURNOUT FOR JEWISH HERITAGE FESTIVAL

I was there, and it was quite interesting. I caught the part where they sung the national anthem & started the festivities. Of-course I couldn't help but walk around looking at all the different vendors. I even won a tote bag & 2 certificates for local Sacto shops. Thanks Sac Press for my tote!

Conversation about: Developer signs exclusive arena agreement

I won't be looking forward to the new arena downtown mainly because of the increased congestion it will bring & it just seems outright ridiculous. Why? The money that is being spent for this arena can be used on producing more jobs for the unemployed, put it back into the schools and also stimulate the economy. Also, why fix something that isn't broken? We have a perfectly fine arena miles away from downtown and also conveniently located near the airport. You can't argue with that. Whoever built the current arena was a genius.

Conversation about: Do public transit stops attract crime?

To comment on the actual subject matter: I ride public transit, and I usually do it during the day. The only thing is I go home at night sometimes, and I feel unsafe. I read in a News & Review article that women are mostly targeted at night, and that scares me. Yes, there are tactics to use when defending yourself, if need be. However, I think there should be more security at all light rail stations & well lit bus stops that are used more frequently. I see security all day long at most stops, even on the train itself. What sucks is selective stops have security, such as the high traffic ones like 16th station, while the stops that have fewer patrons have 0 security. If they can increase the fare and take away some routes, at least secure our safety by increasing the security.
