The parking situation totally depends on the block where you live - some areas are really bad and others are OK. DOT absolutely needs to be working to make those and many other stops safer for pedestrians and cyclists. Not sure why as a resident you're opposed to keeping residential parking a priority but the flip side of this is that the city is also considering changing the parking rules in commercial areas, lifting a lot of commercial area restrictions. If the city does it right, and that is a big IF, we can have decent protection for residents and enough parking for commercial areas.
oh the irony...when Mr. Kerth was Executive Director of Midtown Business Assn he hated the various neighborhood associations in Midtown. He saw them as an obstacle to his grand plans to turn midtown into a club district instead of working with its natural assets as a diverse mixed use neighborhood. He has had only one idea in the last decade and both times he tried to implement his 'idea' 1) Del Paso as a arts destination when he was in office and 2) Midtown as party central as ED of MBA, he failed at both because both are inorganic, contrived and forced on an area, while not aligned with the nature and natural economic compositon of the area. Now as he's running for office says he supports neighborhood involvement. Yeah right. As usual, he says what he thinks you want to hear ....good luck District 2. Sadly, none of the candidates are any better. What a sad group to be forced to choose from.
I agree we should be encouraging more transit use but the sad reality is that if there is insufficient parking for the store and to replacing the lost parking from nearby office uses, it's just going to make street parking in the neighborhood worse, adversely impacting residents and the businesses. I am no fan of parking garages and am very concerned the garage sits next to residences across S Street. The garage is oddly placed and the design is lackluster. I am hopeful with some outreach the design will improve and the front facade of the garage facing the street and nearby homes is reworked.
Conversation about: Ask Officer Michelle - Barking Dog Could Be Considered Excessive Noise
letting your dog bark any time of day or night for any reason is extremely rude to your neighbors. People who let their dogs bark are rude and insenstive. Would they let their baby cry without seeing why? Unbelieveable.
