I can imagine that your entertainment life must consist of Lawrence Welk and Hee Haw...

Um, Bill Maher, Sean Penn, Keith Olbermann, and Whoopi Goldberg, are GREAT Americans, in the manner addressed by the late great journalist Sarah McClendon when she yelled across a press room at the equally late and great ARCHIBALD (not 'Alexander') Cox, special prosecutor for the Watergate investigation, upon being notified that he was fired by Richard Nixon for getting too close to exposing Nixon for the crook that he was.....

Each of these people has moved the bar forward on asserting democratic values in our society and addressing hypocrisies and wrongs. They are, to paraphrase Paul Wellstone and Howard Dean, members of the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party....

You, sir, seem to be advocating a version of the Democratic Party that never existed -- basically you seek a 'moderate Republican' platform -- which actually doesn't exist anymore... For the GOP, it's the teabaggers or nothin'....

But one thing is certain -- you are NOT a Democrat.....

Jay Spooner, what do you think is the effect on political "joy and optimism" when a County department director leaks a private email from a citizen, outside County channels to her boyfriend and you leak it to your friend who's running for City Council, who leaks it to the owner of the illegal business, that was the topic of the message to the County, who posts it online, resulting in threats and harassment to the person who contacted the County official in good faith?

How much "joy and optimism" can citizens have that public officials will do their jobs rather than violate the public trust in order to protect their friends, cronies and those who operate businesses illegally?

Where is the "joy and optimism" in the knowledge that existing and aspiring public officials think that violating the public trust and public health and safety codes are necessary to establish businesses?

If both sides are corrupt to the gills, the dumbest and most mispellingest signs imaginable don't matter. No one can take the high road on "the issues," if everyone involved is standing in a ditch, covered with the same muck.

Actually the NY Times survey found Tea Party people to be more intelligent and wealthier than the average person. The mainstream media focused on those two findings. I'm a moderate Democrat who finds Obama's progressive movement distrubing and Tea Party ideals much more appealing.

Are you aware of the funders of Freedomworks, and other organizations that claim the 'teabagger' mantle??? Here's a schooling from Rachel Maddow on the funding fakery of all this 'tea party' nonsense...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_cEpN1Srs4

And then there's the utter stupidity of the 'teabaggers', many/most of whom haven't a CLUE of what and why they're protesting, and the utter mythology these people recite in support of their protests, when so many of them receive public aid of one sort or another....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_s-lvpRj00

And then there's the hypocrisy of the whole thing, with so many of these misdirected silly and stupid sheeple demanding to get rid of government as long as they don't get rid of their public aid and benefits....

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/16/opinion/l16tea.html

Now, I think that a significant sum of the teabaggers are just plain dumb and are being used to promote a corporatist agenda without their knowing it. Here on planet earth we call these people 'fools', for they do not realize just how insidiously they are being manipulated by the corporate interests banking these outbursts, ALL of which are directed against the Democratic Party and what has become known as the triumvirate of evil, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and President Obama, and especially the former and latter, one because she's a woman, and the other because he is a person of color.

There is legitimate anger and angst out there, but if it's not channeled toward the benefit of these people, any of your 'movement's' energies will be lost on corporate diversions benefitting only corporate interests. Instead of organizing for people of modest means, you are being organized against your own interests, and for the interests of those organizing you. And trust me -- you're being organized to the hilt...

And I suspect at least *some* of you know that...

Btw, here's another very salient discussion about the whole teabagger mess from last night's BILL MAHER SHOW....

bbbbmer,

There are many of us who have been calling out the posers and usurpers within the TEA party crowd. I'd say we have a greater propensity to challenge our own than any other political or grass roots movement. You are trying to paint the general body as robots of the ultra right, when that's not the case. Sure the big money propelled the event, but a large block of the body is there to tell both sides we aren't taking their falsehoods anymore. Absent this tour was some of the big money support from the farmers, pro-big business, and developers, and water for farms people. they realized they weren't getting the return on their investment in the way of support. We don't want to be used by anyone.

Actually, per a NYTimes article on them from a week ago or so, a preponderance of the teabaggers are on some form of aid, which is why they seem to have all this time to 'protest', and pay virtually no taxes at all. In fact, the bottom 40% of income earners in America pay no income taxes at all. I'm sure a plethora of these folks fall into that category.

There is some legitimate anger in these people and no doubt many of them are unemployed and dislocated in one way or another. But it's not because of Obama.

Like trained seals they dance to the tune of Foxnoise, Beck, and Rush, and are Hannitized into submission to the corporate will, channeled into protests against the very people who are trying to help them, but they're just too dumb to realize it.

But even Fox can't perpetuate this lie forever. Eventually these big lies are discovered for what they are, and when people realize their falsity, they double down against their deceivers, just as they hung Mussolini on a meat hook... and sent Hitler into a suicide, or faux suicide and an Argentinian grave...

These 'teaparties' are very well funded, well orchestrated booboipalooza's -- and their leader, former disgraced congressman Dick Armey (the drunken letch) of Freedomworks, doesn't work for free... There are at least twelve pseudo-nonprofits supported by enormous contributions from Koch Industries and other corporations pouring millions into the effort to de-legitimate the Obama administration and the Democratic party.

It ain't gonna work, m'dears....These people are starting to see through the corporate gauze of this faux-grass roots movement, for NO ONE REALLY believes that corporations are 'good' for America, especially when they've lost their job...

And even their mascot, Sarah Palin, is kinda fading -- her speaking fee has shrunk just in the past couple of weeks, especially after these teabaggers found out that she raked in $12 million last year for her role in making stupid people feel good about themselves...

Frankly, I don't think this 'movement' will last until November -- and the teabaggers will need a nap by then....

No Joy? No optimism? That's the best criticism this writer can come up with about a protest rally??? Let's ask it this way . . . does Spooner want the Joy and optimism of anti-war rallies? How about amnesty for illegal alien events, or protests at World Trade Conferences? Bad attempt to denigrate the folks who pay the bills, Spooner. Besides, if you paid attention you woulde have seen plenty of Joy and optimism about the coming November elections . . .
