Hilarious...After months and months of malfeasance(Incl. sexism/racism) this guy has the nerve to say "Don't screw up"? Amazing the disconnect between what he believes and what is really going on. Morale is at an all time low, Upper management types that actually do the REAL work of the County are leaving in droves, Parks, the environment and most every dept. across the board are being eviscerated and Szaley, McGlashan and Peters keep on fiddling while the County(pretty much literally) burns. But it's OK because Hudson will eliminate all environmental review, parks and spend $600,000 plus(that the County does NOT have) to close/relocate all the Pot dispensaries and then and only then will everything be GREAT again. Disgusting.

Yes, but again the 9:30 thing is more about the prevalence of too many kids not because of "drunken revelers" or any "scary" stuff or people. If there was some way of enforcing the 10P.M. curfew(or ANYthing for kids to do) then I would stay out later...As it is I have just a bit of claustrophobia and wall to wall children who don't know to pay attention to others is just too much.

Thank you David...Very reasoned and reasonable arguments...I've lived in Midtown for ten years now(just blocks from 20th & J) and also wouldn't trade it for anywhere in Sacramento. I LOVE Second Saturday. The Art and the music and the people but I DO normally go home by 9:30 because I don't much like all the kids("Get off my lawn" indeed)... There are many good ideas floating around and I'll save that part for those forums. Here I will just say thanks for putting succinctly what many of us are feeling. I will NOT let people scare me away from Second Saturday.

Thank you Marion. Lots of good food for thought...A couple of things, There IS already a Third Saturday event that is basically an unattended failure each month which leads me to believe that people might not be quick to patronize events on K St...Porta-potties NEED to be more prevalent to keep people from using yards as such...The Kings bring Millions of dollars into this community and have NEVER missed a loan payment(plus they bring TONS of entertainment and civic pride to this city) so going after them MIGHT not be the best idea...Starting Second Saturday earlier(especially in Winter) seems like a no-brainer...The river promenade MUST be better utilized and probably will once the new Crocker opens...

As a 19 year subscriber to the Bee who has seen the paper's size and quality shrink, seemingly by the day, I find THIS whole thing to be VERY disturbing...I agree with Shay when he says "I take with a grain of salt everything I read on the web. I don’t see how websites can compete with real newspapers doing real journalism. Maybe it’s the permanency of ink: It’s real. If you put it on your blog and it’s wrong, you delete it and it’s like it was never said".. THAT being said, The Bee is making it harder and harder, especially in these financial times, to continue to subscribe to a paper that seems to care less about people, the community and their own quality than it does the bottom line. Thanks DWB. Keep up the good work, JS
