IADT Annual Fashion Show "Rebelution" at California Auto Museum 4/29/10

Once again the annual fashion IADT (International Academy of Design & Technology) student fashion show was held i Sacramento on April 29th.  This time around the school held the show at the California Auto Museum.   The theme "Rebelution" was derived from the 1920s era and silent movies of the day.    This year might have been the largest show compared to years past with having 14 student designers participate.   Along with the very large line up of designers the guest MC of the evening was Branden Rickman.  Rickman is most known for being on the hit reality show "Make Me a Supermodel" season 2.  The halftime entertainment was provided by Matt Locke who is an inspirational interior designe

Omri Caspi Recognition at City Hall 4/1/10

 Thursday evening at the City Hall town meeting Mayor Kevin Johnson and the rest of the council members started off their agenda honoring the Sacramento Kings basketball player Omri Caspi. Caspi is the first Israeli born athlete to play in the NBA. There was a short but sweet video played showing some highlights of Caspi's first season as a professional. Then District 3 Councilman Steve Cohn presented Caspi with a recognition award. Well over two-thirds of the audience was there to witness Capsi being recognized not only for his basketball skills but for him being a big part of the jewish community here in Sacramento.  After a standing ovation for Capsi he said a few words of gratitude as

Sacramento Kings vs. Minnesota Timberwolves - March 14, 2010

 Images By: JayCanter.com   114 Sacramento Kings – 100 Minnesota Timberwolves Pregame high up above the Sacramento Kings court there was a meet and greet with over 250 of Sacramento’s local Jewish and Israeli community. They all came out to support Omri Caspi who is the first Israeli born player to play in the NBA. Capsi spent some time doing a Q&A session with the large group before having to head down to play the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Drop A House Fashion Show March 13, 2010

By: JayCanter.com Influenced by legendary fashion houses, Drop a House introduced some up and coming talent to Sacramento’s runway Saturday night. Drop a House presented designers: Benzo Couture, Richard Hallmarq, the Vittore Brothers, and Lauren Oto. Bobby Trendy, who is best known as the late Anna Nicole Smith’s stylist, will be making a special appearance and showcasing his new line. There was two shows as there were so many people who wanted to come to see these fantastic designers show their latest works there was not enough room in the Guild Theatre in Oak Park to allow it to all be done in one show.  Each show was about 35 minutes long and had some known fashion celebrities invol

Photo Essay: Cap City Culture at Sac State

Sac State's Union Ballroom was transformed for Cap City Culture on Thursday night. Some of the highlights of the evening were a DJ scratchfest with some of the top local DJs, a performance by the Beatbox world champion, Butterscotch, sets from the top 3 finalists of "America's Got Talent,"  and a break dance competition.

There was actually not performances of the final 3 from America's Got Talent... Butterscotch was one of the finalists. Along with the events there was a performance by local MC A.R.A.B, and a performance by Random Abiladeze. It was a great intimate event full of music, dance, and good vibes. Keep an eye out for the next installment. There is no reason to miss an event like this if you are in town. it is FREE to get in and experience.
