Kati that was good to let readers know about this big event. It will be a great day for Sacramento.

That happens to be my birthday as well and since i enjoy the Crocker Art Museum I will probably celebrate my birthday there. In fact, all my family and friends will be there too. Something that is worth noting is that the new Crocker expansion will be named The Teel Family Pavilion after Jim and Joyce Raley Teel who donated 13 million dollars to help build this new 100 million dollar wing. After you read my SacPress articles of how the Teel's got their money you will know why me and my family will be there on October 10th, 2010.
Great article!

Thank you Jim for your comment but you can't burst my bubble. My dad was naive when it came to people he thought could be trusted. He always had the belief "innocent until proven guilty". By the time he figured out that the three men that hired him were thieves, he was ashamed of himself.

Children that become victims of sexual offenders are often naive too, but we don't hold that against them do we? or call them names. But rather we pursue the criminal even more as an example to others. We sure cannot let criminals buy their way out of their crimes and justice, can we Jim?

I guess you could say my dad was in a fantasy land. He was fantasizing what he was going to do with all of his bonus money. Keep in mind, he had nine children and about 30 grandchildren and he had hopes that he was finally going to be able to afford to do some things for them and their mother he never could afford to do before.
You look like you are dressed for the military, Why don't we consider doing a new reality show called "A Battle Against Billionaire Criminals" First it can show Bernie Maddoff, then Allen Stanford and next Jim and Joyce Raley Teel at the Teel Family Pavilion at the Crocker Art Grand opening on 10-10-10. Oh by the way. That is my birthday too. Let's Party Jim.

e) you don't like my movie choice. f) you love yourself and nobody does nice things for you
I think people who thumbs down and run shouldn't be able to critique a story with just a gesture. If you don't like an idea, express your thoughts. Maybe I will change the venue from the Capitol building to your neighborhood and everyone can use your bathroom. That would make a great story for the Sac Press. Let's do it!

Thank you for sharing that information with your readers. I believe most people want to write was is right. In our last Sacramento Press workshop there was the discussion of using an idea from a news source or another writer to write a whole new article with other sources and with our own wordswithout plagiarizing anothers work.
I think Sacramento Press should pull articles if it is an obvious work of plagiarism. Those writers should not be allowed to recieve any Pulitzer Prizes or write for Sac Press for one year.

I think it should be noted how much the McClatchy CEO Gary Pruitt makes in total compensation. Replacing him with an experienced newspaper person could have eased the cuts at the Bee for now. His self induced pay cut of 15% is not sufficient. Gary Pruitt should be given a "pink slip"
I agree with Newsmom in that posting there names was not to their advantage. Perhaps posting their names with their job title, length of employment with the Bee and any positive points that could be made about them possibly would have made them feel better about their departure. I will coin this term as a "Jobituary". A jobituary is what is said about a person when their job has died.

David, that was very well said. Sometimes the only optimistic thought or word of encouragement is "it could be worse". I too am an optimist, not so much in putting faith in that things will get back to "normal", because all indicators and those in the know say it won't, but optism in that my loved ones, family and friends will make it through another day. That old church song "One Day at a Time Sweet Jesus" is sometimes the only help we might get in hoping for a better today. Thanks for giving the readers an opportunity to hear that we are all in the same boat, so lets row together and together we will go through troubled waters and get to the other side. I think I'll go to church tomorrow.

Thank you Colleen for getting Molly Dugan to share some of her experience with us as it
pertains to journalism ethics. I think everyone who attended took away a little more information
about the do's and do not's of writing a story. I don't have any excuses now. Thanks again.

I cannot believe how much this icon looks like me. That is the first good picture I have taken in a long time. Maybe this is a good sign for this new extension of the Sacramento media. May the Sacramento Press be a beacon of light in a world surrounded by foggy information. Jak
