Who is that sexy man by that sexy coffee roaster? Good to see ya, Lucky, and it's good to hear that you're bringing your extensive love and knowledge of coffee back to Midtown. I look forward to swinging by soon for a French press.
Great news, Colleen. I'll always think fondly of my time spent at Sac Press and you were always a pleasure to work with, even at 1:00am after six hours of election coverage.
I guess "Young Folks" is to Pete Bjorn what "Let's Get It Started" is to the Black Eyed Peas.
Such a fun show! Good job capturing the highlights, Steven. It would have been hard for any band to make up for that long delay between sets (what was that about, anyway?) but Foster the People certainly made up for it and then some. Really glad to see that "Pumped Up Kicks" isn't a one-hit-wonder and it'll be great to see where these guys go next.
That homicide bit was pretty intense. I remember feeling the crowd flinch when he said that. But in retrospect, I think we need to use harsher language when it comes to demonstrating the risk our children face in the failing school system. There might not be any literal murder going on, but think of it as homicide of the mind.
Our first photograph together. I'll cherish it forever.
Great to see you there, Lindol. Definitely a fantastic show. I've become a huge Builders and Butchers fan and think catching them with Murder By Death was like having my (birthday) cake and eating it too. I hope to see you at another show soon.
I missed the mermaids at Dive Bar when I stopped by, but I was more amazed by that giant iPod in the back of the room. What was up with that thing?
It was probably Chauncey Billups. Good stuff, as always.
I got my tickets! Excited to hear their new sound, too. Hooray for good shows in Sacramento!
I hate to say it, but these ALT Art events might need to offer beer and wine to get the 20 and 30 crowd to pay more attention. And how awesome would that be? Bad art and good beer? Think of all the terrible things you would make.
This will definitely put Sacramento on the map big time. Keep the attention off the Kings for a while, at least.
I wish God would hand me an electric guitar.
Yeah, this is actually really awesome. I need to get my lazy self over there and see what else I'm missing.
Your hilarious observations astound me. Always a good read.
Those hats are adorable.
I am embarrassed for the error and apologize for leaving that important information out. The event benefited the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.
I've always been on the fence about this issue. On one hand, I very well know that high school kids will find a way to get drunk. Not all kids, but most of them, and not just because of peer pressure or irresponsibility. It's curiosity. Kids just want to know what it's like to be drunk and those who enjoy it will likely keep doing it, especially at social gatherings. So knowing that kids will drink, I figured it was best to at least have parents who encouraged a safe environment for drinking, while making sure no one was getting behind the wheel or getting into trouble. Now that parents can't make the moral decision to supervise and monitor their teenagers' drinking habits, I worry about kids finding alternative places to drink where no one is watching, because they will. They'll have to. I doubt they'll be as responsible when there aren't any parents around. I always believe that open communication is the answer to keeping kids from making stupid decisions. Sure this will punish the irresponsible parents who don't adequately supervise their kids' parties, but it will also punish the parents who understand what it's like to be a teenager, who let their kids experiment in a safe environment. But I don't know. It'll be interesting to see how this new ordinance affects underage drinking in the next few years, or if it affects it at all.
Thank you. It was a pleasure meeting the actors, they are all great people. I look forward to seeing them performing on stage.
