Happy to hear about this, as I work nearby, but very disappointed in the hours announced--the last thing we need downtown is yet another restaurant that closes by 6pm--I "get" that you're going for the 9 to 5 working crowd, but there are tons of us who are hurting for reasonably-priced places to frequent in the later hours and on weekends--there are already too many restaurants that go dark by evening and are closed on weekends. I work evenings and weekends downtown, for example, and find myself eating at the same places over and over, and burning out on them. I may implode if I have to settle for another sub sandwich, as an example. Please at least consider giving evenings and weekends a chance--from your description of the restaurant it's a perfect complement to coffee shops that survive and thrive at night down here, like Temple (right across the street from you!) and others.
For those that haven't heard yet, Target is currently smack-dab in the middle of a controversy where they've taken advantage of the Supreme Court's recent, also controversial decision regarding campaign financing and donated a total of $150,000 to a group called Minnesota Forward, which is supporting a candidate for governor of MN who is actively anti-gay marriage, including his desire to write discrimination into the Constitution. This hasn't set well with Target's gay employees or customers, and those that support them. Target has released an official response that tries to dance around that fact by saying they are simply supporting candidates from both parties who are pro-business-growth, and that they don't necessarily agree with each candidate's other positions. In other words, they put blinders on about who the person is and what they stand for as long as the candidate is doing what they want for Target's business growth! Arghh...
My favorite Sacramento club years ago closed to the public, so I had to move on--it was in the basement of the beautiful old high-rise building where the McCormick & Schmick restaurant is now--at 11th and J Streets. Had a half-court basketball court, and plenty of other amenities. Was also reasonably priced. I've heard it still exists but is now for building tenants only. I, too, have toured CAC and been impressed, but it's definitely not something I could afford. 24-hour Fitness at Downtown Plaza is reasonably priced if you look for specials, and, from what I've seen there, is perfectly fine for most folks. Plus it is very cool that it is actually one of the ones open 24 hours.
The porch enlargement for outdoor seating! The balcony for outdoor seating! No TV's! I'm lovin' this place already!

Thanks for dreaming big, Ben--Sacramento could use more of it, and you (and those working on this) will certainly meet a lot of resistance and condescension from many Sacramentans--it's a part of our heritage for some reason. I won't support this if it's ultimately economically unsound, just as I'm watching the arena talk very carefully for the same reason, but if it looks like it makes economic sense and is viable I'm on board and excited at the possibility. Wanted to emphasize I appreciate people working on their dream of doing this and, again, thinking big and going for it.
