What bothers me most about this is the fact that the train was crowded and no one seemed to intervene.
Interesting critique of their live performance. I was very disappointed when I saw them In Eugene last year: they made it very difficult to really enter the music without any improvisation and a less polished version of the album songs. Unfortunately, I am leery of the direction that they're going in on a song-writing basis. It seems like they've chased a larger studio sound this time around, something that reminds me of the wrong turns that Modest Mouse the Shins and Decemberists took on their later albums. While I do feel that this turn will open their fan base tremendously, it might cause a good portion of their older fans to stray.
The garbage trucks came around 6:30 AM in Brooklyn. At 5:30AM people would start pulling cans and bottles from the recycling bins. I'm not sure where those 8AM city ordinances apply to -- I moved back a year ago, but can't imagine much has changed. Growing up in Carmichael, I learned to accommodate the city noise.
Conversation about: Ask Officer Michelle - Raising Chickens in the City Limits is Ruffling Feathers
Sometimes the chicks you buy aren't properly sexed and they grow to be roosters. If you raise chickens for eggs, you might not want to kill the birds and very few people want to take a rooster. Other people might want a sustainable population, and then there are those people who enjoy consuming fertilized eggs. These are all fairly benign circumstances that can be confused for cockfighting. Perhaps a hungry raccoon will find its way to your neighbor's.
