One correction and one clarification:

The proposed site is not at the corner of 24th and S Streets as the article states, but rather on a parcel bordered by 28th and 29th Streets on the west and east and R and S Streets on the north and south.

The total project cost that is estimated to be about $15 million is the cost to the developer to contrast the store building the parking lot and the parking garage. The Co-op’s estimated project cost (for tenant improvements, equipment, inventory and soft costs) is $6 million.

I agree we should be encouraging more transit use but the sad reality is that if there is insufficient parking for the store and to replacing the lost parking from nearby office uses, it's just going to make street parking in the neighborhood worse, adversely impacting residents and the businesses. I am no fan of parking garages and am very concerned the garage sits next to residences across S Street. The garage is oddly placed and the design is lackluster. I am hopeful with some outreach the design will improve and the front facade of the garage facing the street and nearby homes is reworked.

The main problem is the location of the garage.. as long as the surface parking is directly across from County Welfare...it will simply traded Caltrans workers parking in Co-Op space with county workers. They will never walk further to a garage when they can just park their cars in the surface lot. Quite frankly there is light rail and several bus lines that serve the county office. The county should be encouraging mass transit. I don't understand why so much is devoted to parking. The whole project really has a disappointingly suburban design and layout..

the kings have been a purple pimple for sacramento. unfortunately our freeway system was built before greg luckenbill and friends figured out a way to develop north natomas. so we are left with colossal traffic snarls and a parking lot at the POWERBALANCEARENA useful for satellite landings. the series of owners has reached the bottom, with the plump, broke, clowns from arizona who give perhaps one whit for sacramento. (i am not sure how much is a whit, but i am sure they will gamble one for us.) the team that once starred oscar robertson, and here vlade divac, "sucks wind" year after year and we get excited when the piss actually makes it into the toilet. i say, bye, bye, lets put 15% of the parking money into bike paths and pedestrian safety, and wish the black and purple a bruised goodbye.

There is NO long time or real gain for taxpayers or merchants to fund a NEW Sacramento stadium. To con merchants that a new stadium will bring a ton of new business and gain is not a fact. When people go to San Francisco for a game they buy everything to eat and take at the stadium. There are no parking plans for this stadium other than existing parking. No REA plans to purchase from Sacramento's building trade and hire form Sacramento's labor force, without BOGUS excuses, that San Francisco, has used to disqualify available sources, in order to import products and workers. Their ARE NO REAL PLANS to make this NEW stadium a WIN for Sacramento tax payers at a time when Sacramento TAX payers need jobs and growth in building trades. Sacramento taxpayers NEED more than to fill the pockets of those who will profit from a NEW stadium.

A new downtown arena in Sacramwnto has the potential to transform the downtown district in ways unimaginable to city planners. China Basin was transformed from a delapitated warehouse district to a vibrant multi-use sports and entertainment mecca that generates local, visitor and convention revenue sources for The City and County of San Francisco...and that barely speaks to the larger issue of the Giants' overall economic impact on the local economy. Yes Councilmembers, there is much to consider...

Or try a bar that has no TV's whatsoever. "Hmmm!? Whaaa!?" Now that is an idea! For those who feel the "addiction to be connected" you can politely huddle in a corner and finger yer smart phones, check on yer sports, immortalize the moment on yer facebook and then get back to living in the moment and having a laugh with a person or persons who is there for the music ,suds & spirits. We could use a few more of these establishments on and off the grid. There is a large demographic that would enjoy not being assaulted by multiple televisions. Can a place like this survive? Sure! Shady Lady Saloon and The Hideaway are the ones that come to my mind. Let me know if any of you folks have heard of any more of these nostalgic kinda watering holes. Great conversation by the way!

K Street will be a Monday-Friday 9-5 place as long as businesses close on weekends. Worried about your brioche going stale on Saturdays and Sundays? Slather some almond cream on top, apply sliced almonds and toast it. Mmm, twice-baked brioche could possibly be the savior of a half-baked redevelopment.

Well this is a long time coming; Freeport Blvd. is a City designated bike route but there's no marked bicycle lane until well after (if coming from Midtown) the school; and those biking the opposite way lose the bike lane long before getting to school.

Now if only the City will do something about Folsom Blvd., another City designated bike route; while it *does* have bike lanes, they are unusable due to the garbage and recycling bins and yard waste piles that block them daily.

I agree with this effort. First, cars speed down Freeport at close to highway speeds. And second, I hope it starts a larger conversation about the quality of bike lanes in Sacramento. There are also portions of Riverside between Beverly and W street that need expansion.

Lastly, you need to have bike lanes on the major road that lead up to a school.
