About Me

I am a student at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco with aspirations of becoming a full time journalist who also works in the Esthetics field; but eventually I plan on using my BA to write for the beauty industry. I love being a journalist because it allows me to know a little bit about a lot of things and I am always looking for new learning experiences.

In This Moment - Hell Hath No Fury

There wasn't a hint of foil wrapped, chocolate bunnies, or the faintest sign of a cotton tail around the R street corridor this Easter Sunday. The sweet sound of church bells were traded in for heavy metal chick music and so much intense head banging that chiropractors should really start setting up recovery booths out front. Revolver Magazine cleared the night out at Ace of Spades for a hardcore show on the "Hell Hath No Fury" tour. And if "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," the line-up featured the hottest chicks in rock to have ever lived up to the title. The crowd, mostly consisting of twenty-something males who probably don't celebrate Easter because they're too old for egg hun

Ace of Spades Rolls Out The Carpet for "Of Mice and Men"

Ace of Spades cup hath runneth over. And Friday night in Midtown had nothing to do with it, either. Friday night's turnout for Of Mice and Men redefined those tragic words: sold out. The buzz for the April 15 lineup was noteworthy enough with the return of the headliner’s original lead singer, but I think the masses have detected that Ace of Spades gives what other venues severely lack. First of all, it's the only all-ages spot in all of Sacramento. It has really nice, big bathrooms and doubles the capacity space of Harlow's. It offers a much more personal experience than the Boardwalk and comes with multilevel bars and an awesome, personable staff. The only thing missing is the silver p

Ace of Spade's Presents The Low Dough Show

Typically, Sunday is the one day of the week saved for some much needed rest and relaxation. In Sacramento, however, it’s the best day of the week to catch a randomly cheap, and exceptionally amazing, concert and a beer with some friends at a local hot spot. Since Ace of Spades took over the old club spot, Empire, you will never find a typical Sunday night scenario when you're roaming around the R street corridor. Right at dusk, from a block away, you can hear the uproar of sound in preparation for the night's line up. This past Sunday night, April 3, featured This Luxury, Color the Sound, Early States and Awolnation. As the major headliner, Awolnation invaded the crowd with intense soun

All's Well That End's Well at Ace of Spades

It wasn't just your typical lineup of bumptious "screamo" bands at Ace of Spades on Thursday night. Tucked into the R Street corridor, Ace of Spades is by far the best spot in the Sacramento area for any concert, with a bumping, mixed crowd of minors and their adult entourages, plus established older fans swarming the bar area, of course . The venue is the perfect size for a personal, up-close concert. It’s legitimately cozy, offering concertgoers a dinner menu and a full bar, with a selection of brews on tap and friendly bartenders who make you believe everyone is a "homeboy.” There are three bars (one conveniently located by the stage) and a private seating area. Parents need not worry

The Crocker Art Museum Gladly Presents "Backstory"

January has brought the Sacramento valley area more than just a bone-chilling mid-40s daily high: It has persuaded local art lovers and their families out of their houses and into the cozy, contemporary confines of the newly renovated Crocker Art Museum for a chance to enjoy some of history's most notable artists. "Backstory" features lectures arranged in a series and focused on national and international art exhibitions that are not currently on display at the Crocker. Oftentimes traveling to the various locations these exhibitions can be held at is out of the question or inconvenient, and now the Crocker is able to give the Sacramento community a one-hour look at what's going on in the
