Conversation about: Coalition Says "Modernize Chicken Laws"

Silkies are an adorable breed of chickens. We always had fresh eggs growing up in Roseville. Different breeds produce different sizes, colors and frequency of eggs so it's good to have more than one type. Fresh eggs taste so much better than store bought.

Conversation about: Sizzling Onto the Music Scene

Is there any chance he'll re-release his first album? Does he have a webpage with samples of his music? For creative musicians, being the writer is where the money is so this is a win-win situation for him.

Conversation about: Career Resilience

Sacramento Works has many locations in the region. Go to http://www.seta.net to find the one closest to you. I find that the HIllsdale Blvd. has the most comprehensive services. Everything is FREE when you fill out the registration form and submit "right to work documents". Networking opportunities, job postings, career coaches, job skills assessments and typing tests with certificates. Workshops for soft skills, resume writing, interviews and free access to their computers, fax machines and copier. You can also have your resume put onto resume quality paper at no costs. There is also an EDD representative available on Tue/Thur. EDD also considers attending and participation with Sacramento Works as "active job search" because you are improving your skills to obtain employment. The positive atmosphere helps keep you focused the staff is very supportive.

Good PR for our officers. I wouldn't have thought to go to a public presentation for K9...this might be more fun than the annual football game between firefighters/policemen.

Conversation about: Stockton is fifth most dangerous city in the US according to Forbes

All the foreclosures and unemployed doesn't help; this was a volatile community during good economic times.Does this really surprise anyone? I lived in Stockton for a year in '89--scary even in the nice areas, because the next block over is dangerous even in the middle of the day.

Conversation about: Guitar Hero: Bringing back old school rock and roll

Lou!! Thanks for the tip! We LOVE GH and haven't started the RB yet. It's fun to listen to kids come home from a friend's house and say "Wow, there is this great new band, we have to get the CD." Then find out it's AC/DC, The Stones or Aerosmith...we just laugh, .."Honey that's not new" and pull out a vinyl record...which then starts a whole new issue. For Parents that think video games waste time and warp brains...this is a GREAT WAY to bring the family back together. My daughter and I are still on easy, but daddy can expert through everything to unlock all the music!! Quothia...there are all kinds of cheater unlock codes!!

Conversation about: R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

People in general have no respect for other people's possessions. ** I have people come to my home that sit on the edge of couches and arm chairs..."Were you raised in a barn? Don't sit on the arms like that-sit on the floor if you haven't been taught how to sit in a chair!" ** I do laundry and find that people have written on the back of my daughter's clothing...in College! ** Neighbors stomp up/down their stairs shaking the entire building, without any thought to the rest of owners. ** People receive mail in error and keep it for a week. ** As for this story in particular: What kind of mother doesn't check on the children?! Where the kids even in car seats that were properly strapped to the vehicle? OH - Bad Parents Tick Me Off! She probably wanted out of there because she didn't have valid insurance. People buy the policy to give "proof" of insurance to register the vehicle then let it expire...keeping the card!!!

Interesting turn of events. I contacted their website several months ago for a personal interview and was sent several documents to post "for them". Having a Bee editor in the family explains that response from the granddaughter.

Conversation about: Drunk in Public

Officer Michelle, Can the residents start a petition to present to the city counsel or the police department? I thought that CA laws were passed many years ago that held bar responsible for the condition of how they're patrons left their establishment. If they're drunk and drive then the owners can also be held accountable for the DUI, manslaughter or involuntary murder charges. If this still stands true, can't they be held accountable for fines that residence can pursue for continually having their peace disturbed? If there are enough complaints can the bar loose their liquor license?

Conversation about: Hot Italian hosts a benefit for Italian earthquake victims

Forza Italia! Milli Grazie Hot Italian for allowing us a simple way to contribute and enjoy your wonderful food. The Smoked Salmon/Dill pizza is worth the drive to downtown to help those in need. It's the least I can do. **** The place was packed! The pizza fantastic. Gelato...really is there anything bad about Gelato? The staff warm and friendly. I loved listening to Igor speak Italian to the manager, makes me eager for language classes this fall.

Conversation about: The Sacramento Coffee Tour

This sounds like fun research and a unique spin on a simple joy. I'm like nursemarjory, I drink coffee all day long, even in the heat of summer. I noticed a tiny little coffee shop on 15th & Q (didn't see a sign), while participating in the Italian earthquake fundraiser at Hot Italian on April 9, being able to stay competitive with a Starbucks on an opposite corner might be a good indication that the coffee is good.

Conversation about: What's one percent?

Is there someone in the government with an Outlook calendar with a Follow-up flag on July 01, 2011/2012? Because let's be honest - I know I'm not going to remember in one to two years that the taxes could be reduced by one percent after getting used to paying it. This is going to hurt the economy, because I'll reduce my spending even more than I did when I became part of the ever-growing unemployment rate.

Conversation about: Assembly Committee Passes Legislation to Keep JROTC Program in San Francisco School District

This was well written and very informative, easy to read and I had to look up the word "fascistic", because I also thought it was a possible typo. The bigger issue is why was the previous board allowed dismiss the program because of their own personal beliefs? If the program has been successfully operating in the school district for 90 years and there were not documented bias, why did this pass? Did this ever go to a public meeting or was this decision made behind closed doors? We will need military leaders to replace those that are retiring or ones that we loose in wars. SF was known for it's military presence and it makes sense that they have a high participation in the JROTC program. Great Story!!
