Conversation about: Tuesday: The Crystal Method rocking Harlow's

Last time I saw TCM was in Squaw Valley and Ken was walking around with bagels and Asprin the day after on Sunday. He said he had never been there, but really liked the vibe. Bring ear plugs. The new track with Mitisyahu (just saw him on Saturday and Sunday at Harmony Fest in Sonoma) is off the chain. These guys are soo pro.

Conversation about: Why Sacramento Needs Coworking

I've been 'co-working' since 2000. I now service nearly two dozen stable clients from Jacksonville, FL and New York, NY to Los Angeles and even Lake Tahoe. I provide graphics, logos, websites, print work and marketing plans. On each deal, there are at least three to four people involved from accounting and sales to people like me who bring ideas to reality. I think all this talk is rhetorical.. Just do it - who cares what you call it. It's the way stuff gets done these days.

Conversation about: The Sacramento Press to hold its first Tweetup Thursday night

Was having dinner last night pre-show for tonight (Sol'jibe) and one dude was all over Twitter. For him, it's how he keeps up with fellow musicians/bands/artists. He was glued. me, not so much.

Conversation about: Is Anyone Paying Attention?

The whole city and most of the planet for that matter is a concrete jungle. If you want to complain about litter - we could start by not driving so much in cars, using bikes more, walking more, using mass transit including Amtrak, not flying so much, picking up stray litter whenever, and not approving any more roads. I agree with Tab, overall the park is clean. Some days it's dirtier, some days it's cleaner. They City can't clean it every day - go green brigade!

agreed - somewhat. Myth: The Second Amendment guarantees the individual right to own a gun. Fact: The Supreme Court has always interpreted this as a state's militia's right, not an individual's. Good synthesis of 2nd Amendment, The Congress and US Supreme Court... http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-secondamendment.htm

It was a 5-4 ruling - far from unanimous and with Obama getting an slot to fill - looks like you're hanging in there on a prayer. After Heller, The Gun Lobby's "Slippery Slope" Is Gone; Reasonable Regulations Ahead by Paul Helmke While the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the District's ban on handguns, they also made it clear that the Constitution allows for reasonable restrictions on access to firearms. As Justice Scalia said, "the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited." When the dust settles, most Americans -- and I believe even most in the gun violence prevention movement -- will come to see that there are some positives in this decision. Elected officials will no longer be able to use a mistaken, absolutist misreading of the Second Amendment as an excuse to do nothing about gun violence in our country. Politicians can't hide behind the Second Amendment anymore.

I support gun control, and I suppose I'm a riffle shooting liberal, but the shotgun and rifles stays in the cabin - not at home in the city. I believe the right to bear arms as stated in the Constitution was proscribed as we had NO STANDING ARMY. I don't see how Keven's attempt to regulate ammunition sales impedes law abiding citizens from buying ammo. As for Gadfly and William Burg - your disrespectful tones are the problem with Conservatives and why your party was booted out of every major political institution from the White House to the State Capitol Keep on rockin' in the free world.

I think it's 50% of their sales must be generated by the sale of tobacco. Why not talk to them, you said, "seem unwilling..." That's a vague statement. Before you start a conflict by bringing in the REGULATION COPS, why not attempt to find a mutually agreeable solution like using an indoor smoking vent/filter.

All food preferences are subjective. Some people like McDonalds and Taco Bell. As one who cooks pizza at home from scratch, I enjoy Luigi's in midtown just fine. Juicy, crispy crust with ample thickness and quality and ample toppings at a reasonable price. I am sure a lot of people are just fine with Dominoes or Pizza Butt. I, for one, don't eat fast food - it's like cheap vodka - it'll kill you.

Why not name the band opening Friday Night Concerts int he Park? Sol Peligro. Lounge on 20 hosts a summer fashion show first week of May. Raley Brew Fest around the corner even though the West Coast Brew Fest is only 3 weeks away and much bigger. The Indie Festival is May 2 at Fremont park and is free as is the Unity and Diversity Festival at Southside Park.BLVD at the new Beatnik studio will be a very hot show today. But of course, most of this is simply at Sacvibe.com.

Conversation about: Vigil for local journalist, colleague detained in North Korea

Hey John, some of the best known liberals in modern history took arms up against the CIA and US supported puppet regimes. Why don't you turn off your FOX 'news' and take a history class. Furthermore, when was the last time the USA negotiated with a terrorist? Lastly, conservatives have never started a revolution, removed a puppet regime or helped a third world country educated and feed it's poor. What they have done is about the exact opposite.

nobody was there - that was the point. Organizers had set up an area for 3,000 participants. I could barely see a few hundred from my vantage point at Luigi's Pizza.

i just came back from looking her Current TV segments. Her style of reporting, coming live and direct from the ground zeros of bad scenes, was bound to end sadly. Hopefully, the Obama administration and Al Gore can do something since after all, Al Gore started Current TV. North Korea scares the crap out of me. I wonder if they were even in their territory. I bet all the film is gone.
