I went to a celebration and a basketball game broke out!

In hockey, the joke is: I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out. At Power Balance Pavilion Tuesday night, there was a celebratory love fest with Gavin and Joe Maloof, Mayor Kevin Johnson, the Sacramento Kings, and about 14,000 fans. This was the first home game since a financing plan was announced for a new arena. Along with the celebration, there was also a game. Even Isaiah Thomas, whose 18 points and 8 assists helped defeat the Utah Jazz 103 - 96, was happy for Sacramento. Although one of the possible relocation destinations for the Kings was his native Seattle area (he grew up in Tacoma as a Laker fan), he also knows what it’s like for a city to lose its NBA team. Three Kings preseason games announced

Although the Sacramento Kings haven't announced their preseason schedule, three teams haven revealed their games against the Kings. The Phoenix Suns will play against the Kings here in Sacramento on Oct. 5 at Arco Arena. The Kings will travel to Las Vegas, where they will play the Los Angeles Lakers in their annual preseason game at the Thomas & Mack Center on Oct. 13. The Utah Jazz will wrap up their preseason against the Kings in Salt Lake City on Oct. 22 at EnergySolutions Arena.

Tyreke Tuesdays: Late-game heroics highlight Evans' week

Finishing out the month of February, rookie guard Tyreke Evans led the new-look Sacramento Kings to two straight wins against the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 24.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.3 steals, leading the team to a 2-1 record for the week. Although he scored 28 points and 13 assists with only two turnovers, the Kings were embarrassed by the Detroit Pistons at home, losing 101-89. Although the Kings were down by as many as 30 points late in the third quarter, Evans scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to cut into the lead. Tyreke Tuesdays: Evans shines despite Kings' woes

Despite the Sacramento Kings going 0-4 since the All-Star break, Tyreke Evans is performing consistently. The rookie guard from the University of Memphis averaged 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists and one steal per game since the break. For the week, his shooting percentage was 51.9 percent. Evans is ranked first among rookies playing 36.9 minutes per game and is No. 24 in the NBA The year before at Memphis he was playing 29 minutes per game. Having extended playing time isn't the only change Evans has encountered since joining the Kings. His body has taken a beating with injuries as well.
