The Sacramento Film & Music Festival will be hosting the premiere of Jennifer Lystrup’s film “Beautiful Youth,” a documentary that highlights the issue of youth homelessness in Sacramento, to the public. The documentary sheds light on 10 homeless youths and tells their stories in their own voices. The 47-minute film will be shown at the Crest Theatre at 6 p.m. on Thursday. “I’m so happy to even have this opportunity,” Lystrup said, “It’d be really nice if people from the local city government show up because this is an issue that needs to be addressed.” In a previous Sacramento Press article on the documentary, Lystrup said she had hoped to get a public screening for the film in the f
Not the daisy dukes kind, but the on-screen shorts. Although, we do like the visuals of short shorts on shorts. Ten Minutes of Film. Ten days. Twenty eight film makers. This is Summerfest 2011 10X 10 Film Challenge at The Crest. If you see people running around in a hurry around the city, they could be part of the 28 teams who have taken the dare . Gilliam is still best known by some of us as the wacky animator for the original Monty Python shows. But he’s also an accomplished director of not just Python movies, but also “Brazil,” “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” and “Twelve Monkeys,” amongst
The race is on as local filmmakers scramble to produce a 10-minute film in less than 10 days. This year marks the sixth annual 10 x 10 filmmaker's challenge, and the theme is 'milestones and markers.' Local filmmakers, actors and film crew members form teams annually to compete in the challenge, using the year's specified theme and an assigned prop to create a 10-minute-long film in 10 days. The films will be presented in a three-hour gap during the closing weekend of the 10th Sacramento Film and Music festival at the Crest Theatre on August 1. Submissions will be judged by a jury for overall production quality. Participants showed up Thursday evening at the Crest Theatre to find out th
