Women experiencing pelvic discomfort can learn about the latest advances in hormone replacement therapy, minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery at two free educational seminars being presented in Roseville and Sacramento in early June by the Sutter Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery. Both seminars will cover a range of medical issues, including pelvic discomfort, heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pressure/bulge and lower back pain. Olivia Juhn, M.D., a gynecologist with Sutter Roseville Medical Center, encourages women to attend and learn about the numerous treatment options available for common gynecological problems that can affect women of nearly all ages.
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento staff learned how they can be of even more assistance to their community by being ready for disasters at home and work during the Employee Emergency Preparedness Fairs, which were held on consecutive Mondays in April at Sutter Memorial Hospital and the Buhler Building. Approximately 200 SMCS employees learned about tools available for emergency preparation and how to be better prepared for handling situations ranging from fires and earthquakes to chemical spills and terrorist attacks. Cancer awareness activists have invited the public to attend the 4th Annual Night of Celebration on March 31 from 6 – 9:30 p.m. at the Momo Lounge on 2708 J St., in Sacramento. The event will be hosted by Sutter Medical Group family medicine physician Jennifer Cahn, M.D., and George Kovacs, benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This expansion of Sutter General Hospital will be a 242-bed, nine story building that will provide innovative technology in a patient-focused environment. Community leaders and supporters congregated at the corner of N and 27th streets to see the beginning stages of the new River City Food Bank. After a four-alarm fire destroyed the RCFB’s original location Oct. 21, the community immediately responded, and the Sutter Medical Center donated this space for the Food Bank to rebuild. The blaze, determined as arson by the fire department, heavily damaged the building and destroyed about 10,000 pounds of food. Later this month the next milestone in the expansion of the Sutter Medical Center in midtown will be the switchover from the existing Energy Center off of 29th Street to the new Energy Center in the basement of Sutter Capitol Pavilion on 28th Street.
