KVIE Community Video Project to Showcase Local People & Places

KVIE Public Television is seeking video submissions for You on the Road, a community video companion project to its Rob on the Road series hosted by Rob Stewart. This project is an opportunity for anyone to use public television to share their stories about the people and places that inspire them, and capture what makes our region an exciting place to live and work. Through Rob on the Road and You on the Road stories, you can help others experience our region in a new and inspiring way! From the submissions received, KVIE will select stories to be featured in a 30-minute special edition of Rob on the Road. Shen Yun Performing Arts will perform at Sacramento's Community Center Theatre

 From the versatile dances to the colorful scenery, Shen Yun is a unique traveling show that presents its audience with an understanding and a visual of the traditional Chinese culture. Shen Yun will be coming to Sacramento on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both showings will begin at 8 p.m. at Sacramento’s Community Center Theater at 1301 L St. across from Capitol Park. “Every year, Shen Yun has brand-new performances,” said Sherry Zhang, who works for the Asian Arts Foundation as a local presenter for Shen Yun. “The 5,000 years of Chinese history and culture have so many stories and legends. Car Man Bertolucci Shares Some Stories

Fans of hot rods and car customization crowded into Time Tested Books on 21st Street Sunday night to hear from a legend in the Sacramento car customization scene. Dick Bertolucci, 82, had more than 100 fans eating out of his hand as he and his longtime friend Bud Ohanesian recounted tales from their pasts, all the while grinning like children who have just gotten away with something naughty. Her invited guess included her children, grand-children, great-grand-children and friends. March 25, 1931 was the birthing of something wonderful for this is the day that would be celebrated on March 28th. Claudia Mae Bridges was married to the late Rev. Josh Bridges, Sr. whom together brought their family of ten to California. Rev. Josh Bridges, Sr. had served in the military in Mobile, Alabama at Brookley Field from 1942 to 1945. With so many new writers, we want to make sure we offer you the tools and resources to improve your writing and help you feel more confident posting on our site. We've held many journalism-related workshops in 2009 ranging from Interviewing Techniques, Bias in Media, Journalism Ethics, among others. Sac Press holds writer's workshop

About 30 people gathered in the Sacramento Press office Feb. 2 and learned how to convert everyday events in their lives into compelling news stories. The workshop was given by Holly Heyser, professional journalist in residence at Sacramento State and adviser to The State Hornet newspaper. The focus of the workshop was on helpful guidelines for how to turn ideas into news articles and how to find topics that are newsworthy. Heyser also went over the foundations of journalism and writing in general. The night started out with food for participants and introductions to some of the Sacramento Press staff.
