A report by Symantec (the somewhat self-interested PC Security company) has produced a report that lists the top ten places in the US to be scammed online. The nation's capital, Washington DC, is top of the cybercrime rankings, mainly due to its high saturation of smartphone usage (second in the country), but the large number of politicos, lobbyists and [all their money] must be a significant factor too. The Sacramento Police Department and the City of Sacramento Department of Utilities are warning residents and businesses about a man, claiming to be a City employee approaching homes in a recent water meter retrofit area and trying gain access. Residents and businesses are warned that the City does not need to get into a home to test the water or conduct further plumbing work inside the home after a meter retrofit. Typically, City utilities employees do not need to enter into homes and if they do, they will schedule an appointment in advance. Hello all Sacramento Press readers. Tonight Gorilla Productions is having a Battle of the Bands at Club Retro. The event kicks off at 6:30 pm , there will be 12 bands playing and all ages are welcome. The Scam (us) will be going on about 9:30pm or 10:00 pm. We do still have some tickets left for this event. They are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The Scam would really like to see alot of people cheering them on. This will be our first show since the band has been together. We first put out a demo and now we will be focusing on getting a following and playing shows. Any support that we can get is very much appreciated. The Scam has done it backwards. Although the Sacramento-based band has yet to play its first live show, it has already created buzz with its debut EP. The song, "Make it Last," attracted the attention of DJ Famous of 103.5 The Bomb after the band submitted it to www.mySacLive.com, a website where young artists can win cash, studio and air time. The band's lead guitarist, Spencer Kilpatrick, said that based on feedback he's received, "Make it Last" will probably win some airtime on the radio.
