Public and Private Partnership Celebrated at River Safety Event May 26

With the summer season around the corner, County Regional Parks and the Sacramento Metro Fire Department hosted a river safety event on May 26 to remind people to take a few precautions to stay safe around area rivers, and that the law mandates that all children under the age of 13 must wear a life jacket in or around waterways. At this event, the GenCorp Foundation also presented the American River Parkway Foundation with a grant of $10,800 to purchase 2,000 life jackets and facilitate the “Kids Don’t Float” free life jacket loaner program for children at several spots along the American River Parkway. Two homes tragically burn in South Sacramento

 Sacramento, CA | Early Tuesday morning, two South Sacramento families were awakened to find their homes ablaze. Sac Metro Fire and Cosumnes Fire Departments were called to Liscarney Way in the area of Vintage Park Dr. and Calvine Rd., for two homes burning. When firefighters arrived, they found two, two story homes with the second floor of both homes well involved with fire. All familiy members made it safely out of the homes after neighbors awakened them. Per Sac Metro Assistance Fire Chief Rice, both homes were severely damaged and the families would not be able to inhabit them. Red cross was called to assist the families. Metro Fire saves apartment complex while manager gets uppity with media

This photographer/writer has been accused of being "snarky" in the past, but I'll put it right out there and warn you on this one…I'm going to be Snarky! Sacramento, CA- Metro fire executes a rapid "knockdown" on apartment fire, containing the blaze to one unit and saving the complex. Early Sunday afternoon, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department, assisted by Sacramento City Fire Department, was called to the apartments at 7326 Stockton Boulevard, for a report of smoke.
