Crocker Art Museum Partners with SIGLFF to Screen Audience-Favorite Shorts on October 6

The Crocker Art Museum and the Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival will co-present a screening of audience-favorite short films from past festivals at the Museum on Thursday, Oct. 6. The program will start at 7 p.m. and includes the following films: “Little Black Boot” (2003, USA, 17 min) by director Colette Burson – A modern Cinderella tale in which a high school girl dresses up as a boy for the prom and finds mutual attraction with the prom queen.   “Ryan's Life” (2004, USA, 24 min) by director Nick Wauters – Complications arise for high school student Ryan as he begins to wonder if he might be gay.   “Gódir Gestir,” or “Family Reunion,” (2006, Iceland, English subt

'Til Thursday

The Crocker Art Museum now hosts Thursdays ‘til 9. The event will feature four art experiences, Film Frame, Art Mix, Playlist and Open Art.     Open Art is the theme every fourth Thursday of the month and was the theme this past Thursday. Thursdays ‘til 9 featured “Licensing in the Digital Age,” held in the Cemo room with seventy plus attendees. Robert G. Pimm, Esq., Chief Learning Officer and Director of Legal Services at California Lawyers for the Arts led the workshop. Pimm spoke on industry standards, intellectual property rights and how these rights are bought, sold and optioned. Intellectual property copyrights are not just one right but five. Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

The Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (SIGLFF), held at the Crest Theatre, had a successful run during the weekend. Three nights of showcase short and full length movies were shown and were well received. Each evening started with a VIP reception with Zócalo providing hors d’oeuvres. Barefoot Winery provided a station for wine, champagne, and other drinks. Informational stations were set up in the lobby entrance. Tina Stidman, Vice President of the Sacramento Valley Veterans (SVV) and other volunteers were on hand to promote the fight to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival to entertain and educate

The Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is back for the 19th year, celebrating art and creativity in the queer community and presenting films from all over the world at the Crest Theatre Thursday through Saturday. “We try to both entertain and educate,” said Program Director Michael Dennis. The difference in this year’s film festival is that there will be no underlying themes, unlike last year when the films all represented themes of gay youth. Drag Queen Bingo

Drag Queen Bingo played tonight at Hamburger Patties and the beneficiary was Sacramento Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival (SIGLIFF). Produced by Outword magazine, it plays every other week as it continues into 2010. The next bingo game is Wed. Jan 27 and will benefit Breaking Barriers. Hamburger Patties is located at J and 16th. SIGLFF encourages all to embrace their sexuality

The Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (SIGLFF), Sacramento's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) art event, is coming to the Crest Theatre Thursday through Saturday. "Embrace your sexuality, whatever it is," said Patti Barcena of SIGLFF. "SIGLFF is good entertainment. Where else will you get to see GLBT films with such an appreciative audience?"
