William Land Park is eligible for listing as a historic district – making it the first Sacramento park eligible to be listed on its own merits, independent of its location within a neighborhood historic district. The eligibility finding is the result of a recent landscape cultural survey conducted by independent researchers between April and December 2011. However, this would be a mistake - one that the Department of Fish and Game's Fishing in the City program is trying to correct.
