Wine and music with a Monkee

It was a who's who of legendary rock n roll music on Monday night at Pearl on the River in Sacramento.  Starship's Mickey Thomas and the legendary Mickey Dolenz from the Monkees graced Sacramento fans with a patio jam.  Handfuls of fans crammed into the gorgeous eatery to sip on vino from various local wineries including Frank Family Vineyards, while listening to the nostalgic music of an era gone by.  Dolenz is in town cutting a tribute album with songs from Carole King at Gigatone Records for the my record fantasy contest.

Pearl on the River serves up Northern California cuisine with a view

Jeff Pooler and Matthew Jones have just about done it all in the restaurant industry. They have a combined experience of over 35 years in the business and have held positions as everything from chefs to managers and owners. With enough experience to go at it alone, Pooler and Jones decided to combine their dining expertise and take it to the next level. Foodies and wine enthusiasts unite at Raley's 7th annual Grape Escape

Foodies and wine enthusiasts united Saturday at Cesar Chavez Park for Raley's and Seventh Annual Grape Escape, presented by Raley's and Bel Air for an evening of drinking and munching. For $40 in advance and $50 at the door, ticket-holders took part in a three-hour taste marathon, sampling cabs, chards and merlots from more than 50 top wineries from six counties in Northern California and gourmet appetizers from Sacramento’s favorite eateries.
