Stephens Drive Double Fatality Fire Ruled Arson

Sacramento Metro Fire Investigators have concluded that the double fatality fire that occurred at 4061 Stephens Dr. on April 6, 2011 resulting in the deaths of Laura Fernandez, age 38, and her son Wilfred Villarruel, age eight, was an act of Arson. Metro Fire Investigators are working with Sacramento County Sheriff’s investigators and are asking the public for assistance. April 6, 2011 at 8:03pm, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District received an alarm for a house fire at 4061 Stephen Drive in North Highlands. Eureka! It's not a bird or a plane

Sleeping family gets a drunk awakening

North Highlands, Sacramento, CA- A sleeping North Highlands family got a rude awakening early Sunday morning, when a drunk driver careened through their backyard fence. The drunk driver was driving his Chevrolet pickup, under the influence of alcohol, through the quiet neighborhood. He lost control of his truck, drove over the sidewalk, up a short wall and through the homeowners wood fence. The driver was arrested on scene and the family was left with a mess. No one was injured in this incident.

The accident that wasn't an accident at all

North Highlands, Sacramento, CA- Early Saturday morning, police and fire received a call for a vehicle accident on North Watt at Karl. When police arrived, the victim was crawling from the wreckage. It was quickly discovered that the victim wasn't just holding his chest from injuries incurred in the accident; he had been shot in a drive-by shooting, lost control of the vehicle, and plowed through a tree before his vehicle came to rest. The victim was transported to the hospital immediately in serious condition. An update will follow as more information becomes available.
